Leah, You need to have your own TV show

As a new single mom to a 5 and 3 year old, and a full-time military nurse, I wanted to say what a fantastic teacher you are! I have become a DIYer in a fast and furious way thanks to my ex leaving and through you I have learned how to cut copper wire to update old bathroom piping, install trim and your videos have even given me the confidence to rebuild our old unsafe rotting deck! I wear a bracelet that says simply 'YOU GOT THIS" and your sign off "you can do this" echos it exactly :) Thank you!

your tutorial is superlative in it's presentation for the weekend carpenter wherein it tells the exact step by step process of the technique in cutting these scarf joints. I just went and checked out a bunch of "finish" carpenters videos which assume I know what I'm doing and casually brush over how to set the wood against the cutting bed. thank you again !!!!

I love your channel, I'm doing a lot of renovations on an old neglected house, i used to work for a contractor so i know how to do most of this, but i need a refresher course on some of it. You have a great knack for teaching, thank you.

Leah does such a fine job of explaining basic carpentry and repair skills that you should watch her videos before any others. She know what she is talking about and how to do it. In this video I would only put out a shout out to 2P-10 CA glue combined with the white glue method we're most accustomed to. It works in place of nailing but still gives the strength of the white glue for joint strength and you can put the piece in place immediately without waiting for the white glue to dry. Well done Leah and thank you for your knowledge.

You were using the exact same chair rail I was working with. As always: simple to the point explanation and demonstration, which are easy to follow. I would like to add that it is not necessary (in my humble opinion/experience) to place the scarf joint on top of a stud unless one happens to be where you need to join a new piece of molding. Crown molding is fairly light and held in place at multiple fastening points, which should be studs. It may be more cost-effective and time-efficient to just place joints as they occur.

Ok, this explains everything I needed to know about extending that molding with a "scarf" joint". I wish I would have listened to my wife an hour ago and 3 cuts ago (with a hand saw). thank you...

auto play somehow brought me to one of your videos, and although I've been a carpenter long enough that I don't imagine much of the content will be new to me, I can't stop letting your videos play. You have a very pleasant and calming way of communicating which isn't common in itself but coupled with the seemingly straightforward and easy to follow instructions, make you one hell of a teacher. I have tried to imagine that I have zero knowledge of the subject matter for a few of your videos and I believe that you have a very rare gift in regards to teaching. I must agree with the many other commenters that mentioned how easy it would be to imagine a television show hosted by you! I can count on one hand the amount of times that I have commented on KZread videos over the years but I felt compelled to lament the feelings of many other's. you have a Mr. Rodgers-Esq quality about you which is relaxing and just makes ya happy! sorry for the novel size comment, thanks for brighting my day and keep up the great work. your teaching skills are surely helping a lot of people. You saved me some money. I bought crown molding and thought I could do it. Got frustrating not being able to cut. I was ready just to pay some one to do it. But Between you and another channel I figured it out! Only took 4 hours but I got it down! Thanks a ton

seejanedrill Ms. Seejanedrill, sometime you can help some people no matter how you try. Yet emily miller could have taken her arrow and kept scrolling to another page that she liked, but had to comment negatively on your perfection. Keep doing what you do because your videos are straight to the point and on point. That's what you call a hater and on top of it all, you didn't even need the caulking.

Great tip! Measure from the stud so the scarf joint can be nailed. This video plus the video on coping -- I'm ready to finish my basement. Thanks Leah!

Scarf joint ! Ahhhhh.... so that’s how it’s done You’re awesome. Very helpful. I’m installing my first set of interior French doors with glass side lights and a glass overhead transome. I need to put a decorative 3” wide chair rail molding between the overhead transome window and the doors & sidelights. Lowes Home Center only had the decorative chair rail piece in 8’ lengths. Naturally I need a piece that’s 8’-4”.... A scarf joint - nailed to a stud behind it looks like the way to go ! Thanks for the helpful video
