    Hagen/Fluval is one of the best examples of a pet supply company that isn't only in the business for unit sales and profits. Their products continue to progressively become more and more innovative and their approach towards this goal heavily relies upon input and response from the consumer. It's clear to see that there's painstaking R&D behind new products and it's almost always paired with some sort of education for the millions of members of this hobby. I can't name another aqua-supply company that goes that extra mile on the level that Fluval does. Great work, keep it up. I'm certain you will...

    Is it possible to use a 19L Spec Aquarium Kit as a saltwater set-up? If so, are there any changes that need to be made and what would they be?

  • @fluval

    @fluval

    7 жыл бұрын

    It could be if you stock it properly, one maximum two inch (5cm) fish and a shrimp perhaps with some mushroom coral. Weekly water changes of approximately a gallon (3.78L), the use of a mini skimmer is always better but would be difficult to fit in the filter compartment and would mean modifying the rather nice cover that comes with the kit.

    @@fluval Hi Fluval Aquatics. I will re-scape my Fluval Spec V and due to the only position I can have my aquarium displayed my soil slope will be raised up and over the small filter intake cutout at the bottom of the plastic backboard covering this cut out completely. Can this be done without causing any serious filtration problems and can I get away with doing this?

    Hi, For to 2.6 how many celestial pearl danio/galaxy rasbora can be added (that is if they can live in such small tanks)? Also, can you maybe give me a few examples of Cory's that will do well in such a tank?

  • @fluval

    @fluval

    6 жыл бұрын

    Neill, good question. A small group of Galaxy rasboras can be kept in a minimum 16 inch long tank (they would live in a 2.6 but likely not comfortably), so we would not recommend a 2.6 gallon but rather a 5 gallon, better would be a 10 gallon which is typically 20 inches long. Dominant males do chase the other specimens somewhat so plants and decor as well as adequate tank length is recommended. Given that corydoras should be kept in groups, even the really small C. hastatus in a group of 3 to 4 would be better off in a 5 gallon. A couple of otocynclus for a 2.6 would be a better choice.

    Love the tanks, own 3 spec iii and a spec v... question, is there a way to repair/replace the white base plastic on a spec iii? there was a hairline fracture when we purchased at a big box retailer (that has since gotten worse), and they refused to accept a return/exchange.

    I'm currently looking to upgrade my 2.5g Fluval Betta tank to something bigger like a 15 or a 20 gallon. Since I really liked my 2.5g betta tank, I really would like to get another Fluval but I find it difficult to find something I like in the selection offered. I really don't like the dizzying effect the front curved classe of the Flex and also it's cubic aspect ratio. The spec 16 is kind of nice size wise but the top lid is really awkward to deal with. I mess with it a bit at my local store and it almost made me angry trying to put it in place after opening it. I can't see myself dealing with that at home. And then there's the worst option ever, the Fluval Edge 12 with its super awkward and small lid that basically restrict any necessary movement to scape it properly, it's look over function. I understand what Fluval are trying to do really, they're trying to have turnkey stylish products. They're almost successful but they're going a little too weird with their weird filter section on the size instead of the back or weird aspect ratio, to weird curve classes that distorts your vision. I think they should hire and actually engineer with a strong graphic design background to make something as functional as it is beautiful.

    +stephen james Thank you for your interest in the Spec series. At this time, the newer SPEC models are available in the US, with plans are to expand distribution across North America and Europe later this summer. Some retailers may need to clear out the previous model before bringing the new ones in, which is why you may not see them everywhere just yet. Consult the Dealer Locator feature on FluvalAquatics.com to find a retailer near you, and we recommend always calling ahead to inquire if they have the item in stock or can special order it for you. bit.ly/1Of0BXU

    Maureen, it helps to chose a mixture of fish that prefer different areas of the water column. You could combine a school of 10 - 12 small tetras with a small pair of anabantids like sparkling gouramis or honey gouramis and a 3 to 5 small corys, such as panda corys. Well planted would help too.

    Hi there, you can definitely poor the water into the filter area of the aquarium! This may launch some debris from the filter into your aquarium although if you pour the water slowly, it is definitely an option. 😊

  • @fluval

    Java moss requires very little care, slow growing and can be trimmed as you feel is sufficient. Taking the piece of driftwood out every month or two to give it a rinse to remove accumulating debris can be done (use tap water of the same temperature as your aquarium). Wisteria grows easily. 8 hrs. a day of lighting and supplement with Fluval Micro Nutrients every two weeks as per the label should be adequate. Twice month for partial water changes.

    Hi there, I have 1 Betta fish in a new 3 gallon tank, with a low flow carbon filtration system. In the tank is also an air stone set on low pressure, as well as a heater & thermometer. I bought this tank two Fridays ago (May 20), cycled the tank for 3 days using the specs on Fluval Biological enhancer for 3 days. I added my fish on the third day (May 23) she seems happy, moving around a lot in her bigger space. I however got my water tested yesterday (May 28) at Petsmart, to find out that my Nitrites are high at 3, which can cause stress to my fish.. pH, Ammonia, Nitrates, Chlorine/chloramines, hardness are all fine, which is so bizarre . I have done one 30% partial water change (May 26), 3 days after introducing our little fish to the tank, and haven't done a water change since (today is May 29). I use stress coat with all water changes. Yesterday (May 28) I added another 3mL dose of Fluval Biological Enhancer, in hopes that the bacteria would get rid of those nitrites? Am I doing the right thing? When should I see an improvement in Nitrite levels? Also, I think our little fish is splitting her Super Delta tail because of stress? I have a Marimo moss ball cave, river rocks (small and large) on a bare bottom tank, I will introduce a soft tall wispy silk plant and a smooth cave that I purchased at Petsmart, and MAJORLY sanded down all of the bumps and rough edges. Please help, I want to make sure her and her tank are balanced and healthy... Also, how many times do you suggest partial water changes for a 3 gallon tank with a small carbon filtration system, that runs on low speed/current? Sorry for all the questions, but I understand that I should be changing my carbon filter monthly, how do I ensure that it wont mess up the good bacteria from Fluval Biological enhancer? And how often and how much do I add the fluval Biological Enhancer to keep my tank's Nitrogen Cycle in balance? How do I know when the Nitrogen Cycle is working well and all is good? Sorry for all the questions but I'm worried about why I only have an issue with Nitrites? Thank you so much! :) Also, she sleeps most of the night lying down on the floor of her Marimo Moss ball cave, coming up for air occasionally. But she is very active during the day. Is this a good indicator of good health? Thank you in advance :D

  • @fluval

    @fluval

    8 жыл бұрын

    Hi there, it sounds like you've taken all of the right steps to get your aquarium in tip top shape! In order to bring your Nitrites down, we would suggest avoiding feeding your fish over the next day or two (you can give her a flake here and there so she's not hungry) and performing a couple more water changes over this period. Make sure that the tank is properly aerated and is bubbling well. After a couple days of this, get your water tested again. Hopefully this will do the trick!
