Hell yeah! Sometimes it's nice to take a quick break from making patches and study how others are created. There's always a bunch of stuff to learn that way

Great tips! I quickly learned early on that the effects are more than half the battle! They can transform the sounds so well! Cheers!

I find effects so integral to the end result that I often dial them in and design my patch backwards.

effects are such a huge part of the sound. and really knowing how the different effects sound, can help you envision what patches sound like without them so its easier to rebuild something ya know?

I mainly start with effects if I want to get a certain emotion from a design. When all is done I might reduce or remove the effects as the sound will have to sit in some mix, but for inspiring myself a set of effects can work wonders.

Loving this jon , great break down of a patch ,ive tried this myself but was not sure where to start ,now i know ,its amazing how much difference just changing the parameters just slightly can make a difference to make such a big sound ,i usually over modulate things into a complete mess 😂

thanks man! breaking down patches into their individual components is a great way to learn how they are built. and yeah changing something by the smallest amount can have a huge impact on how the patch sounds. I always approach breaking patches down into 4 things, oscillators, filters, modulation and effects. and while each one of those things has sub categories, its a great place to start

@@jonaudio I found it, a bit pricey for a skin but I do need a change from the original skin, its so annoying to look at that red plugin for hours. how do you change the skin, just replace the original skin folder with the new one as I can't see any options for skins on the vey instrument.

There are a free good free skins on uhes website, but yeah the Mona one is a little pricey, I think it goes on sale every so often? But if you use diva a lot, it's a huge refresher. To change the skin you have to replace a few files but with the Mona download it gives you step by step directions that are pretty easy to follow
