Thanks, this was the best tutorial I found on adding clasps. I'm making the Mighty Mini with upholstery fabric which frays. I made one modification: Instead of sewing around the hole as you show, I added the fray check, let it dry, and then using a needle and thin strong thread (Metrosene 30), I hand sewed around the edge of the hole itself, pulling the thread tight to keep the layers together. Gives a nice clean edge. I enjoyed your comment about feeling "brave" as it's so true! I ended making a mockup with the same layers to test out the options so I could feel brave working on the actual bag!

Great tips, and thanks for watching :)
Thank you for the tutorial. Battled in the past with cutting the hole out, couldn't get my head 'round the fact you have to expose the screw holes also! Your suggestion to make a template is fantastic and this will be my 'go to' tutorial in future. Might have to make and label each template for size for future use! Love the 'mighty mini' . have just battled with a half moon fastening!

Ooh bet its lovely with a half moon fastener - I forgot to try one of those, do share your pics Patricia I love to see it
Thank you for another great tutorial! I've never applied a twist lock and they do seem intimidating. Now I'm up for the challenge!

Welcome ✂️
Great video Diane! I also add a drop of glue to my screw to stop it from backing out and i add fray check to my fabric between the top plates if fabric needs it! Thank you!

Great idea Janet - I did try and overlay some text to mention that because I forgot to say it when I was whittering away - but I think it gets lost unless you have subtitles on. Really good idea 😊 🧵 🧷 ✂️
Mine didn't look like this at all. This looks much easier than the one I have.

They can come with prongs or with screws on either side, but should be similar to attach Patty. Send me a pic if you want some help with it

The screws were so tiny that they wouldn't make it through the fabric AND interfacing. Your design looks much better for thicker things. I watched your original video, too. I am going to pitch the one with screws!!
I love this pattern so much Diane! I made it using scrappy left over patchwork with a snap closure as that’s all I had at the time, and couldn’t wait to make it! 😆 I’d like to make my next one with a fancy twist lock, could you tell me what size to get please 😀

Glad you like it, thank you xx The clasp I used here was 3.5cm (1 3/8") wide, but you really can use any clasp you have available, most of them will look absolutely fine on this even a tiny one. Just avoid something larger than around 1 1/2" wide
