I am hoping you can help me understand the advantages and disadvantages of the Star Credit to public schools. If public schools get their funding via property taxes on the homes & businesses within a district or city, doesn't the Star Credit take money away from those schools and negatively affect the public-school budget?

hi how are you guys? hope all is well, I just want to ask if you can get a retroactive star property tax credit in NY for the past 4 years that i did not apply for ,but qualified ? i purchased a home back in 2017 but i did not register for star credit? please advise ? I registered today and i'm awaiting a response. thanks.

This registration is super confusing as it asks for AGI of me and my spouse for each of us but we file jointly so if i enter it in 2 places it makes it look like we make 2X what we do.

I said the same thing to my wife! I'm going to ask our accountant before we register. Very unclear.
