    Hello Jack! I have a few questions about the Radiology application if you wouldn't mind answering 😊 First, do the references have to be solely by consultants or is it ok to ask a senior clinical fellow? Secondly, is it possible to sit the MSRA outside of the UK namely Portugal or Spain? Thank you in advance and looking forward for your next application video 😊

    Hi! Your references should definitely be consultants. I don't know how strict they are about it, but I wouldn't recommend giving them any reason to doubt your professionalism/probity. I think there may be limited seats for the MSRA outside the UK (medical.hee.nhs.uk/medical-training-recruitment/medical-specialty-training/general-practice-gp/how-to-apply-for-gp-specialty-training/taking-the-msra/booking-the-msra). Pearsonvue is the company that run the exam centres, so perhaps emailing them may help. Best of luck!

    Hi. Thanks for the clear explanation. I have one question. If a person was able to get a radiology F2 post, will a taster week be necessary?

    Hi, doing a radiology F2 post would definitely give you the exposure to radiology to confirm that it is the specialty for you, so a taster week wouldn't be necessary in my opinion.

    Also, can you do a video on academy vs traditional training for radiology?

    Hello, I'm currently undertaking my radiology training in my country. I sat for MY PLAB and had my GMC registration. Hence, I'd like to transition to radiology in the UK. Are there any pointers on how to do that?

    Search for the radiology person specification. If you have too much radiology experience, look up ST3 entry to radiology

    Glad you found it useful! I can't lie - radiology has been pretty amazing so far in many ways. The learning curve is steep, but I've learnt huge amounts already. The other trainees and consultants are really friendly and helpful. I have my spare time and hobbies back as well!

    Hello Jack. What is the weight of ''previous Radiology experience'' on the selection criteria? If someone has little of no radiology experience, does that disqualify him even if almost every other requirement is there?

    Heyy! I’m really interested in radiology but about to start GP training, I’m thinking of actually completing gp training and then applying for radiology because why not! Can you please please give us advice on portfolio stuff!

    Hi, congratulations on getting into GP training! I would think hard about whether you want to complete 3 years of GP training and then do 5-6 years radiology training afterwards, because it's a lot of years to do both and ultimately, almost everyone will only do one of them for their career. I would personally advise picking one or the other early on. After becoming a fully qualified GP earning a GP salary, you may not want to take a pay cut and have to sit 3 more (challenging) exams in radiology. You may also be in a different place in life by the end of GP (have a family, etc.) I aim to release a guide to preparing a radiology portfolio at some point so stay tuned!

    Do you think there is an opportunity for IMG to get radiology training in UK ? As many says it's a very competitive specialty and they almost only accept UK graduates

  • @Mr.Radiologist

    @Mr.Radiologist

    Yes, it is definitely possible because I know an IMG who has been offered a place in radiology specialty training. It is hard work though and becoming more competitive.

    Unfortunately MRCP no longer gives you points on your radiology application, although it is useful for the medical knowledge if you already have it.

    I am interested in Radiology. Once I clear my Plab and become FY2, do I have to apply for any radiology postings to make a better portfolio?

  • @Mr.Radiologist

    @Mr.Radiologist

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi there, most applicants don't have previous radiology experience (there are only a couple of FY1 posts in radiology around). Instead, do a taster week in radiology to get to know some current trainees and get projects like audits to work on to build your portfolio. I'm making a video about the radiology portfolio soon so check that out. Good luck!
