Instead going to post office in appreciation process I paid £192 for door supervise & cctv surveillance and the email came the exception . Now they check up to criminal record , when can I go for post office or what to do. Thanks Mustapha Omer Haji

Well I enjoyed everything about the SIA training. But there should be an improvement on how long it’s takes to complete the application 21days is a hell of time

I have got to renew my license soon, trouble is £184 Renewal then top up course and first aid course £300, then have 3 days off work to do the training £360, then no courses in my area so got to travel 40 miles away to Manchester and back each day £100, nearly costing £950, after all that still on minimum wages for day and night shifts and working weekends, thinking is it worth having a badge anymore after doing security for the last 21 years, 😂😂

its a total ripoff, trouble is nowdays people will work for minimum wages cos most are not from england and its a lot of money back home, door supervisors should be getting paid a lot more than they are at the moment cos of the risk involved

Hi, you should make sure your forename and surname match the names you used for your SIA training course.

I only have 1 document from list B, a letter from hmrc, on my course I sent off a bank statement from my phone but it says clearly they won’t accept an online bank statement when sending for the license.. anyone got any advice I don’t get bank statements in the post I don’t pay any of the bills or have anything it’s asked for other than a hmrc letter 😢

You may have to send a copy of this directly to the SIA as well. In your application make sure to declare any past convictions.

You just need to wait until you have passed your SIA training course. Sometimes it can take a couple of days for the qualification to be linked to your account though.

Hi Ali, have you made sure you have used the same name as the name you passed your course with? It can sometimes take a few days for the awarding body and the SIA to link up.

Passport. Is it essential to have one in order to apply? My UK passport expired 5 years ago. I had and still have no intention to travel so didn't renew. I have a driving licence if this helps? Thank you.

Hi, you do not need a passport - your driving licence will be fine. You will also need 2 documents which prove your address. These can be things like bank statements or utility bills.

Some common mistakes when applying for your SIA Licence include: Entering their middle name in the forename field. For example if your name is David Lee Rodgers, your first name would be David, middle name Lee and Surname Rodgers. If your drivers licence has an abbreviated name on it - for example MD is short for Mohammad. If this is the case, you would fill out your name so it matches your Drivers licence and put MD as your forename and any other names in the middle name and surname field. I hope this helps.

Hi, yes the SIA will be able to see this if it is on your criminal record so it is worth declaring this in your application. They will put everything into consideration and make a decision. Hopefully you should be okay.

the process isnt straightforward when training providewrs submit certificates with the wrong spellings of names

Hi there, you could bring with you a passport or a drivers licence instead. Remember you also need 2 group B documents like a bank statement or utility bill. So far you do not need to redo the top up course after 3 years.

A lot of your details should be saved from your last application. Once you have completed and passed your SIA training course, login to your SIA account and follow the renewal process there.

The SIA licence is only a requirement for working in the UK's Private Security Industry. If you are not from the UK you can still get your licence, however you must have the right to work in the UK and be able to supply a criminal record check as well as a few other checks.

Form A and B refers to your Identity documents. Form A documents could be your passport or driving licence, Form B can be things like Utility bills or Bank Statements. You need one A and two B documents.

Are you planning on renewing your BRP? You need to have a valid SIA licence to continue working in the security industry. You will not allowed to work with an expired licence.

You should be okay with just your drivers licence number, but you could also put in your current passport number too.

My liesence is granted 15 April 2024 but not received then i submitted replacement request on 21 may but liesence is not received in 14 days.. address is correct. You don't have to but it is best to give them all of the information. Main thing is to make sure your name matches on your ID documents to the name you used for your SIA course and for your SIA application.
