good video and good points. Regarding the washing of the bike - what i was told by a couple of allyearbiker people was that wash your bike with water only and use a brush then rinse it off. Do not use a detergant. Once the bike is dry just rub the bike down with the cloth that has some ACF50 on it. This way ypou are cleaning the bike, getting the dirt, salt and crud off but not getting any ACF 50 off. Using this you will only need to use the ACF50 once a year just before the roads are gritted. I certainly found that to be the case and I do my bike in November and everyweek just hose it down and use a brush to clean it. The dry it and rub it down with the ACF50 cloth. Bike comes out shining and has never rusted or anything.

Hi. I've just spent the weekend cleaning and applying ACF50 to my 1199 Panigale and 800 XRX, great stuff although did the schoolboy error of not warming it prior to application so it came out as a single squirt instead of a diffused spray so had a little extra work getting an overall coverage.Took all the fairings off the Pani and the results looked really good, very pleased. Thanks for your video not only on this but all the other topics as well.I also bought a pet dryer prior to Christmas and only just got around to using it, amazing how much water you get out of all the nooks and crannies, well worth the purchase. Thanks again.

Started using this after watching your initial video, our family now applies it to all our motorbikes and everything left outside that is metal including tools. Miracle product! We actually either dampen a rag with acf and wipe it on or paint the acf on the bikes, makes it last much longer!! Recently bought a gallon at the NEC show, that should last a decade!

Excellent update TMF. We had all three of our bikes done back in 2014 buy one of the mobile guys. He did an incredible job (at a price) but I said at the time that I would do it myself next time. Just ordered some from your link and going to do Wifey’s bike at the weekend for her 100 miles round trip commute into London. Great video. I have my brand new cb300r and despite it being summer, I see an aweful lot of shiny bolts so I thought I would give it a try as I figure it's never going to be cleaner than this point in time being new. From watching this and other vlogs seems thin application is the key. I have a can and as mentioned it does not spray in a mist. I think you can apply in small amounts and then wipe all the excess of with a couple of microfibre cloths.

I found this stuff a few years before this video, stuff seems to be great so far. Its a bit $$ but worth it if you value your outdoor electronics and vehicles. RE: Spray bottles: I found you actually don't have to spray. Spraying on is just for coverage. If you want you can just apply some to a cloth and wipe down whatever, drip it into electrical connections. Wait a few hours or a day and wipe it down to get off any extra if you put on too much.

Have used ACF50 on all my bikes, but have used the aerosol can, used it sparingly , also spray on cloth and wipe over bike everytime i wash my bike, great results, one can lasted 12 months, will use the bottle type next time, just bought a pet dryer to make drying bike much easier as in your other videos, so water just does not sit and rust in those hard to reach places.

I've been using ACF50 on my Ebike for a couple of years it realy does work. I use the aerosol can, spray on to a microfibre cloth and apply it. This would be a good way to protect a smaller or non fairing bike, you realy don't want to get it on brakes or hand grips.

Following your advice I applied ACF50 to my GSA, and that worked out very well indeed. Be sure to cover the area around the bike, otherwise things can get a bit messy. To cover the wheels I use paper table cloth. It's easy to roll around the wheels, and afterwards I only have to throw it in the bin.

Hi TMF, Your answers to the questions are right on, I think ACF50 is a great product. I use a lot of it myself as I ride all through the year, at this time of the year with all the salt on the roads it's a wash of the bike after every trip out. It's nice to know ACF50 is fighting salt corrosion back. Regards Dave.

Many years ago I always used WD40 for protecting my bike but AC50 is a far superior product. I procured my ‘set’ from Nippy Norman’s and like yourself I find the trigger applicator bottle extremely useful. I even use the stuff under the bonnet of my Golf R. I will be giving my GS a good wash this weekend, then blow the bike dry using the pet dryer air blower. Then a nice coating of AC50. If it’s not too late to say... Happy New Year TMF.

Tip if you do use the cans is to place the can in a bowl of warm (40°c ish ) water for 5-10 min before using it. It reduces the viscosity and increases the pressure of the propellant. But Best Buy the 1 ltr. I use a combination of the pump bottle and micro fibre cloth and a spray gun and compressor to apply ACF50. Great product first used it on my 2008 TDM900 when I bought it new. That TDM900 still looks in great condition after 8 winters commuting ( my brother owns it now) My new Tiger Sport has got the same treatment.

Bro I have a Bandit which are well known for rust probs. I had salt burn on the engine cooling fins, and some minor rust. Whack ACF50 on, I swear it makes the salt covered areas look like new, and while it can't "heal" rust, it will certainly inhibit it from becoming any worse. Thoroughly clean your bike, then ACF50 it, and leave it...it will look dirty, but the ACF doesn't come off, you'll be good to ride through winter. Personally, as it's expensive and potentially messy I fill the cap off the top of the can with ACF and then paint it on the bike with a brush. Just don't get it on your brakes!

Great little video as always. Someone gave me a paraffin spray gun years ago and reading the thread I was wondering if anyone could recommend a suitable compressor which would do the job. Most look quite ‘industrial’ and apart from using one with the gun I’m not sure what else I would use it for. The fitting on the spray gun for the compressor looks like a rubber pipe should just slide over it so I’m assuming the compressor doesn’t have to be mega powerful. Cheers and keep us the good work.

Thanks TMF, I did buy one of those garden hand held sprayers that you pump to get pressure but it didn't really work, I think the ACF50 is too thick and heavy. I would agree stick with the spray bottle they give you unless you have access to a proper high power electric sprayer like the professionals use. I also keep the cloth I use to wipe over the ACF50 in a zip lock bag, which I find is great to use for a quick wipe with a little ACF50 in between the main applications.

Interesting! We have something similar here in SoCal. Perhaps under the guise of “more info than one needs to know” a Harley mechanic in the 60’s whom also had a background in chemistry came up with a formula to aid in fighting the corrosion that occurred on motorcycles particularly those that roosted near the beach. Paul Gibbs (I think) was his name and the product appropriately named..........Gibbs. I started using it years ago when I was out in Topanga Canyon which was right above the ocean. Folks soak every inch of metal they own in the stuff and I absolutely swear by it. I probably treat my bikes 8 or 10 times a year and I’ve never seen even a hint of rust or corrosion. Locks, latches, garage doors anything susceptible to corrosion. Miracle stuff..... Like I said more than you need to know but I am, after all, a geek about anything motorcycle’s, garage and maintenance oriented :)

Ambersil do a similar product to ACF50 called PX24 which is much cheaper and less gloopy to apply. Available on EBay, Amazon etc. I first came across it when the Royal Navy used it to protect helicopters on ships from the salt laden spray, a similar use that the US use ACF50 for. It also comes with a long list of Defence and other NATO codes, just like ACF50. Might be a better option for some folks. Just a thought.

Water in all the switches on the bars - the bloke from the RAC managed to get the water out of the microswitch under the clutch so I could start the bike, but the left hand indicator was stuck on as well as the full beam. If you use FS365 like you do ACF it will just wash off with rain or road spray, leaving the bike unprotected. You need to reapply it every time the bike gets wet but don't need the bike to be clean or dry to do so. Very quick method but much more frequent. I can't vouch for its long term effectiveness. I have more faith in ACF.

I swear by ACF50 and as advised bought the bottle and atomiser. I have to say the small sprayer supplied is rubbish and as bad an application tool as the aerosol. It just squirts a jet and then broke :-( and that's after keeping the ACF50 in the house so it was warm and making sure it was well mixed. I think the small brush application sounds the best option not having any paraffin spray equipment.

Going to need some of this stuff as I've just placed an order for a 2018 GSA Triple Black (damn you and Baron Von Grumble for your superb videos on these bikes!!) A few questions (sorry!) - presumable perfectly OK on the ali panniers? Do you keep ACF50 away from the 'whizz wheel', as I can image it getting gummed up a tad? And lastly, when you spray in the area beneath the seat, there will no doubt be areas where the spray goes, but you can't get to with a cloth - over time, doesn't this become a bit unsightly? Apologies if these questions have already been asked, but it would take a long time to read all the comments! All the best, Paul
