You should to a video on a mock interview!!! That would be really cool and it would help everyone with interview questions, how to act, dress, and what's better than seeing an actual interview?? please please please

Very helpful advice. I learned my sophomore year in college that when they ask you about your weakness you should explain it as a work in progress because it shows you are aware of your weakness and you're taking steps to improve it. I would say (probably can use something else now) that staying organized and remembering things were a struggle but I now write down everything that is important to me to remember, message it to myself, and ask questions when I'm not sure about something or need clarification.

Do you personally believe companies in today's world expect too much of students that have no experience? Especially in regards to interviewing?

I would say you would want to make your weakness also positive. For example, "I am a perfectionist." I may be nitpicky with my work, but I like to thoroughly check my work before it is published, which is a positive.

Hello Lauren! Thanks for the amazing video! But I have a question for your answer to "tell me about yourself". You mentioned it's good to after saying your basic information(name, major, university), you should also say why you want to work there. But isn't that overlap with your motivation too much? Because I think for motivation, it can totally be another question, just like your last question in the video. Thanks again for sharing! Yunxi

Hey intern queen! I have a question/ video suggestion: When to ask for a recommendation letter after we're done with our internship? Right after the completion, or when we actually need it for something? What would you suggest? I love your videos, thank you so much.

What if they ask for you to explain a few years that you seemed dormant and not working, when the answer could possibly be a great turn-off? For example, hosptalization for a mental illness, or was stuck in a relationship with someone who wouldn't allow you to leave? Actual answer people have told me they used: Q: weakness A: "My biggest weakness is that I don't have any!"

What about a situation where you tried to do you research on the department (I'm being interviewed for a job as an assistant in the science lab and my college.)and you really can't find any information so they're no way to do research . I couldn't find the manager who contacted or her assistant on linked in and there was no info on them at the schools website

That’s actually a really good video and some good advices about interview and somehow how to cope with stressful questions, but the last tip kinda sounds to me as a little desperate move: yes, underlined how important is to work there, but without be too blunt about the company Do company research and stress how challenging and important that experience will turn to be for your careers, but without the “that’s the best company to work for in the whole word” kinda of tone It’s more a feeling from my past interview experience than a professional advice, though 😂

That's a great questions. Prior to going to the interview you should do some research about the company and the role. I always say you should come prepared with a few questions you can ask at the end. A favorite of mine was always "Can you describe a typical day in this role?"

but what if ''organization'' is one of the requirements? For example I have a problem with managing time, and I don't really ''plan'' anything or like make myself a budget... I just wing everything honestly lol and thats a huuuuge problem. but now what if the requirement for the job/internship is time management and meeting deadlines? something I really can't do

If that is a weakness of yours I would avoid mentioning it in the interview and in the meantime work on it on your spare time since you already identified it as a weakness :)

The internship i'm applying to says they require that their intern have a ''specific interest in Fashion''. What does that mean? And how do I incorporate that into my cover letter?

I love how quickly you respond!! What would I do without you hahaa Anyways, I've had an internship before and a lot of experience actually but nothing in fashion. idk if retail counts? I work as a cashier. besides that, all my experience is in events like concerts/festivals/different shows. because of that, i meet the requirements and skills needed for the internships I'm applying to. (even the one's that say like ''bonus if you're skilled in xyz '' ) but like I said, I'm not involved in anything fashion- related :( so how do I incorporate that ''specific interest in fashion'' if I've never done anything in the fashion industry :(

Shanon, I know the feeling when you can't find an internship. But there definitely are. Ask friends who are graduating. Look on Angel List. Here's a little video I made on where to find college internships! kzread.info/dash/bejne/lH6Wo6pvdMu6nso.html Feel free to message me if you're still struggling to find an internship!

Interviewer : What are you biggest weaknesses ? Me : I'm addicted to drugs, especially crack and meth, sometimes heroin, which is fucking my entire life up, and sometimes I think of suicide, or killing people, who are, actually, around me and this prevents me from doing my homework.. Interviewer: My mannnnnn!
