I love using Krita, I can't believe it's a FREE animation program!!! Especially with so many other software going to a subscription rental policy. Now's the time to start learning how to animate in Krita, updated for 2023!
In this tutorial, we will learn how to animate traditional frame-by-frame animation, as well as how to animate more modern digital puppet animation!!
I will show how to improve your animation with recommended animation poses and processes I've used in my own professional animation career! With motion-tweens, you can draw your character once, and then use interpolation to have the computer move your drawings around! Pretty neat!
CHAPTERS:
00:00 - Intro
01:49 - How To Start Animating
03:40 - How To Move, Edit, Copy Frames
04:23 - How To Draw In-Between Frames
05:47 - Recommended Pose - Anticipation
07:57 - Recommended Pose - Overshoot
09:12 - How To Animate Hair
11:25 - How To Play Animation
12:20 - Animation Too Fast? Do this!!
14:29 - How To Import Music/Voice Recording
15:55 - How To Time Beats of Music
17:05 - How To Motion-Tween
19:13 - Adding Ease-in Ease-out
22:17 - Export Animation for KZread
Animation is hard work, but it's so satisfying once you are finished and able to share it with friends and family! Keep at it! :)
Thank you for watching! ♥

So damn tue. I draw using krita like... for 4 years now, and i never animated anything because i hadn't a clue😂
I always tried to avoid Krita and worked with my cozy best friend Procreate, but since my first Animatic that I did in Krita became my most popular video I used that as a motivation to learn more 2D animation softwares. And my respect: This is one of the best software tutorials I have watched so far. A good pacing and all the important information in less than 30 minutes. This is one of the tutorials that encourage me to use the software instead of scaring me away xD Good Job!

I’m trying to get into digital art and light animation and can’t decide between getting an iPad and using procreate or windows tablet for Krita. What do you prefer more?
@BENWELLAnimation
Жыл бұрын
@@keys299 I personally still prefer my iPad and procreate but the main reason for that might be the flexibility. I simply draw and animate more because I can take my iPad everywhere. Although it is more expensive, I definitely am happy with the choice of having an iPad as my main drawing and animation device and I can highly recommend it for hobby artists. As an animation student or professional I would recommend a drawing tablet since the programs available on the IPad are quite limited. In the end it is dependent on your situation and your goals. If you are unsure you can also try out the devices if possible (if you know someone who owns a drawing tablet or an iPad). Working with the devices and trying it out before helped me make a decision. I hope this was helpful :)

Out of any free animation software I have ever seen so far, I think Krita is the best. Krita's tools are a perfect balance of simple and complicated, and they are easier to understand compared to Blender 2d and other software. It is also not too simple as compared to flipaclip and Pencil2d, such that it has ALL of the tools you ever wanted, in the right place. I highly recommend Krita to intermediate animators who has some experience like me. And it is so easy to understand how to animate on Krita with this perfect tutorial. Thanks Jesse!

Krita succeeded cause Boudewijn Rempt isn't an elitist bleep, who discards the need of an artist over the glory of programming. Who knew giving artists a hand results in artists loving your software. Who knew. Who knew. ...not GIMP devs.

Fantastic tutorial man. I own so many animation books, yet I struggled so much with grasping the explained principles being shown within. There's kinda just a difficulty understanding the visual flow of animation when the illustrated pages are not ...well, y'know animated! And you are so clear spoken, lively yet not exhaustingly bombastic, and straight to the point too! This channel deserves so much love! Thank you for offering us free knowledge!

man animation and drawing is a lot of manual work. It's the blue collar of the digital world. Kudos to animators and the anime industry
Really excited to figure out if Krita is right for me. I haven't really gotten used to it, but I think just the switch in general to digital art is hard, let alone animation. Hoping to learn so I can make animatics for fun ideas in the works.

Thank you so much for this! I watched the original one from 4 years ago but I noticed some features had changed. I've been experimenting with krita a little bit recently and im so excited to start animation!!
I was just looking for a tutorial on the basic controls and features of Krita's animation, so I can even understand what I'm clicking. But not only I got that, but also more into the exactly stuff I'm looking for to start learning! This is PERFECT! Thank you so much!
You are such a great teacher! I had watched your original video and came back for the update, and it's just as informative as ever! Thank you for being awesome. :)
I'm in an animation class this semester and found this incredibly useful for my first project, thank you!
Your tutorial is very clear and well-paced: the steps are explained and shown precisely. You’re an amazing teacher! Thanks for sharing!
This tutorial was completely amazing, thanks for making it. I love krita with all my heart and SOUL and I love the animation feature they are slowly improving though it has many flaws. I had no idea they added tweening to their animation feature, I hope they get rid of those bugs soon ^^
Tysm for the updated video! Krita changed a lot of things, and the more popular videos of Krita have a lot of outdated stuff that made it a little tricky to animate! Tysm once again!
this is absolutely wonderful! easy to understand and there is everything i needed to know, especially about the exporting. i would've been so lost without you!!!!
OMG THIS HELPED ME OUT SO MUCH, this was compatible with the newest and the other tutorials were far too old thanks!!!
Ok this is probably the MOST useful how to animate vid on krita to ever EXIST!! This is such a big help, tysm for explaining it so simply aswell!
Yes I’ve been waiting for this! Thank you 🙏
This video was so helpful! You was so clear with everything!
I'll be honest I didn't know how frames and layers mixed in krita, which meant I only used it for a simple outline-only animation once, but now I am a lot more confident to use it, thanks a bunch, the little animation lesson's also nice of you to have for beginners trying to animate for the first time, cool stuff, indeed
Thanks for this, I just downloaded it a couple days ago, can't wait to start my animation!
I have downloaded Krita like a few months ago, and Im happy that someone made a tutorial that was made RECENTLY:)

Thank you so so endlessly much, this is the best krita animation tutorial ever. Thank you♥
Over the years I've watched a few dozen animation vids & probably a few hundred art tutorials when I considered trying to monetize art. This tutorial has got to be at least top 10, even top 5. - Clearly articulated - Comprehensive guidance for beginners to the software & features being used (very rare) - Simple example anyone could follow (not animating some master piece that discourages even trying) - Easy tips & tricks w/ with simple examples of how & when to apply them along the way (not just isolated tips w/out guidance on execution) Absolutely outstanding. You're who I'll be learning animation, Krita, & anything digital-art-related moving forward. You just set the new standard in my mind. Subscribed to YT & Patreon. For $5 I can get a finished animation to study? Definitely want to see what one of your completed animations looks like, & the way you animate different characters / expressions.
10/10 tutorial. Thank you very much!

The way you expressed is easy to absorb and organised. Thank you for making this vedio👍
Danm, what a great class! You're a good teacher bro
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
As someone who has been wanting to get back into animating, I discovered that Krita had an animation feature to it, for a free drawing software, that is SUPER Generous!! However, When i opened stuff up to play around with, i noticed that i had no clue what i was doing, so i had to put it away. Then down from the heavens came this wonderful video which i put off for longer than i should, came back to it on this lovely sunday, and now i have the encouragement to try it again! Thank you for making this, very helpful and i see myself working hard to make something cool like i did 5 years ago in my first animation class!
Okay first.... Krita is awesome..... I love it for absolutely everything. And, second, how could you demo so much meaningful content in just 25 minutes!?! Great tutorial man!! You not only gave a tutorial of the software but you also gave a basic theoretical guide to get started... Anyone with decent Krita knowledge and digital illustration experience should be able to start animating with your tutorial.... P.S. Your video really helped me with a project at work!! Thanks a ton!
Learned more from this video than any other tutorials. thank you.
this is a godsend. thank you so much for your work!!!
