How To Animate A Fart

Фильм және анимация

How to animate a frame-by-frame, eye-grabbing fart in your animation!
I recently had the pleasure of animating a character farting FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY CAREER (somehow) and I made sure I enjoyed every second! As a children's TV animator, I am not sure how I managed to avoid this task for so long. I made sure I went the extra mile, encouraged entirely by the amazing Animation Director that is Beth Hughes! I love it when you're on the same page as your boss ❤️ For this tutorial I have recreated what I did with a charcter of my own, as I can not show the original for NDA reasons. I left in my animation process too, so you can either watch the whole thing, or skip to 9 mins in to watch just the fart effects! Hope it sparks ideas into your animation process !
Who am I? My name's Dani and I have been working as an animator for 15 years. I've been part of some amazing projects and had the pleasure of working for some of the world's best loved studios! Moho is my all time favourite animation software. Follow me for more Moho tutorials and animation career advice!

One of the hardest thing to do in cutout animation is to make it look like traditional animation, and you achieve it really nicely...

Ooooh I take that as high praise indeed! There is definitely a trend in industry at the moment for cut out not-looking-cut-out so I’ve had lots of practice :D although I did slam through this video v quickly 🤣💜 thanks for commenting!!!

Dani!!! I'm so glad you did that Moho Webinar, because without that I wouldn't have found out about you and I was positively thrilled to learn you had a KZread channel as well 😌It's so cool that you share your knowledge and create tutorials that... well... knock the air out of me 😏You have a great teaching style and I do hope you keep it up! Do you have any plans to create tutorials for 180 or 360 degree head/torso turns? Would very much like to see your take on it

I did not know that we can use cutout, frame by frame, and we can add something that we need to show in half the scene and we do not need to show it from the beginning. I learned a lot from you in 18 and a half minutes. It is wonderful. I support you. I ask you to provide more.❤❤❤❤❤❤

We *PROBABLY DO* - but I do not know them!!! I have to use so many different softwares, constantly switching from Maya and Toonboom for my day job, I tend to take the long way round, due to lack of slots in my brain to store them all! I did have a quick look once upon a time and if I found some, I forgot them. Do you know them? ❤️ Haha a BURP! What a fun idea!

@@mohogal I'm a Maya user too and I'm learning Moho. I took a look at the manual just now and found this: "You can use shortcuts to accomplish the same functions as the Frame by Frame controls in the timeline toolbar. Press F5 to add a new frame/layer, Shift+F5 to delete one, and F6 to duplicate the current frame/layer and advance to the next frame." (with hotkeys the experience should be more pleasant and fun when drawing) I'm loving using Moho, thanks for the tutorial and the answer :)

Hi! Thanks for your question! Sadly I have never scripted, due to lack of chance. It’s forever ‘on my list’ to try to pick some skills up but as I keep getting employed as ‘just an animator’ I have never found the time! There are some awesome Moho scripters in the Discord server if you want to join that! They make some awesome tools! ❤️

One question 1. In my switch layer i have 10 layers of eye expressions 2. In main timeline when i go (0 to 15 ) and select switch layer 5 and play then Switch layer 1,2,3,4,5 play in order 😅 Pls give me solution

  • @mohogal

I think you must have your Switch layer set to Interpolate - if you double click your switch layer to bring up the settings window, then under the Switch Tab, uncheck 'Interpolate Sub Layers' ? It won't animate through them then, although that is nice to have in some cases :)
