I'm 55, I was into BMX when I was a kid here in the UK in the 1980's when Eddie Fiola and Mike Dominguez ruled. We didn't have skate parks/BMX tracks anywhere near home, so we had to best make do with what little we had. I never really learned to ride a quarter pipe, and to this day I would love to learn how to do so. Seeing your video answers questions I had when I was a kid back then, so I really appreciate this.

When i learned how to air out back in 04 it was on my 03 pro team condor it was stock and a 36 lbs bike , I could bunny hop not very high but when it came to air out of the pool , I just sent it and only took me a few try’s, flash forward to 2015 my condor has gained almost 10 pounds cause of mid school beef up days I hadn’t been riding ramps or parks at all for the ten yrs , I took my bike to that same local park with the pool , I was a little freaked out , but then I remembered how it felt back in 04 -05 so I just cowboyed up and sent it and then bam 💥 just the same but with 12-14 foot air outs , then I had to get out of the pool , so I got some momentum and sent it , I got some much air I put it into a bar spin x up , that felt so rad I dropped back in and sent it even harder then aired out with a tail whip to ice pick 🤩🤯I cannot believe that I nailed it like that 🤔I probs have to give my bike props for that lol 😂

When youre pulling on your bars and ready to air, what do you do with your legs / feet? Do you pull up / tuck as if you were bunny hopping? Or not really? Just pull on bars, turn head / spot landing? I dont notice your legs tuck until your on the way down. Thanks!

It’s all in the arms and the legs. Push on the pedals while you pull on the bars for longer. Kinda like the same motion as a manual and it comes right before you lift the back wheel. Air outs definitely take time to progress and learn. It took me so many years just to get them decent

@Brant_Moore I guess that's what I get trying to relearn vert on a 6ft halfpipe. Got my confidence up by taking baby step because size the half pipe was pretty imitating at 1st. What happen was I knew I was going to crash so I stuck my right foot out to catch me I twisted my foot a 90 degree I should of bailed off the bike.

Bulky and silly, but it's just for the first few goes to get over the fear. Don't laugh, I was like 13! Lol.

For an experienced rider yes. When I air out I wait till my back tire hits you hear the thud-thud then I pull my bars in to my waist and tuck this is how I do it on a small ramp. I air a 6-8 foot ramp straight up wait for the back tire to clear then give a little pump and 180 back in. Took me YEARS to get it. Keep trying!!
