Took me a while to accept my 50th as I used to be a bodybuilder until I was 48 My mind set was I look physically younger I can dress younger. Now I have seen the gentlemanly light I now dress my age and everything has changed for better. I no longer bodybuild due to health issues but my new style fits a lot better.

Sadly none of use are immune to the passing of time, although maintaining a trim physique is a big boost to the way the clothes fit and create the impression of youth and vigour.

My top tips: 1. Use the wisdom you've built over the years so that you are working smarter instead of working harder. You'll get better results for less effort, thus creating more time for yourself. 2. Your wisdom should be telling you to stop worrying about things. In almost all situations, things never pan out as badly as you feared. 3. This one may be counter to much of the advice on this channel, but it's to be who and what you want to be and not be concerned about how others perceive you. If other people have a problem with how I act or dress, they're the ones with the problem, not me. Do I want or need boring, judgemental, staid, traditional, "normal" people on my life? No! I'd rather spend my time with fellow free spirits and free thinkers. 4. Watch the Chaps' Guide, but recognise that it's merely advice from one man and not a universal rulebook. Listen along, but at the end of the day you need to make the rules for you that work for you.

Ditto Ash! I just experienced my 80th birthday and look and feel as I did when I was in my 40s and 50s. Military retired lieutenant colonel aviator and have worked out and ran eight miles a day in my earlier days. Still can wear my uniforms from the 80s and 90s. Good genes and wonderful wife who loves to cook and never uses prepared or junk food. I’m a fortunate old duffer.

It is particularly important in these days where working from home becomes normal. Whenever I dress well my posture changes as well: no more sagging shoulders and no more slouching. It's almost like wearing a uniform. And one piece of advice: shave well every day.

One thing to mark is when you dress sartorial you automatically look a few years older than you are. So you need to choose the accessories and colors to fit your age. I workout daily and hike alot. I used to run half marathons but prefer sprinting 100m and 400m. Workout is needed to strengthen the muscles and straighten the posture. A small advice: pick up an instrument like myself a play guitar it helps mentally and keeps your thoughts away from daily stress. Ah yes and a clean shave makes you look younger and fresh.

Thanks Ash. I am 61 years old. I have always looked younger than my age, but I find now that I have to work at it more. I got myself into good physical shape but had a couple injuries that made it difficult to work out like I did before, and of course it caught up much faster than it would have a number of years ago. I’m trying to get back into shape again, but I have also started to consciously dress more appropriately to my age and your videos have been a great help in that sartorial journey. Keep up the great work and I will continue watching and doing what I can to improve myself.

I'm 61 and have very few regrets, but one is I wish I had invested more in my appearance, especially in the work place - I always felt it was quite shallow to worry about "sartorial matters". With experience, I can say the truth is people do judge you on appearance, and that matters, as you may be discounted, even though you can actually "deliver the goods"!

I'm fifty-seven, Ash, and I make the effort to dress well every day, walk for an hour through my local neighbourhood, read a book, and develop my knowledge and appreciation of western classical music and jazz . I also have gotten into the habit of memorizing and reciting poetry that I am particularly fond of, especially the works of William Shakespeare, William Blake, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, William Butler Yeats, and Dylan Thomas. -As we age, we need to keep exercising the body, the mind, and the soul. As Bob Dylan once sang, "He who is not busy being born is busy dying."

Another well put together video Ash 👍 I remember when I was in my twenties serving in the army I described my self as a physically fit drunkard 🤣. Later on in life my drinking subsided dramatically and being in logistics tok time out every day to relax fir half an hour before resuming work. It helped enormously. Later still in the police with odd hours etc some bad habits came back, especially eating. Fir the men out there the colonoscopy isn't something to fear or be embarrassed about. Better five minutes embarrassment than early death. Take care of yourself everyone and don't be afraid

My 51-year-old self could not have predicted what the future held for me. We cannot control the aging process, and I went very quickly from an active life that included walking about 40 miles a week, to using a wheelchair because of spinal deterioration. I enjoyed my job and expected to be able to continue working almost indefinitely, but retirement was forced on me because my brain was failing almost as quickly as my body. After 50 years of being a successful Jack-of-all-trades, I was happy to retire to a life of leisure. By coincidence, I had to surrender my driving licence at about the same time, because of another health problem. I enjoyed an extremely active life on a healthy diet up to the age of 70, and have no regrets that it apparently did me no good at all. Make the most of what you have while it lasts, and then enjoy the memories.

All good advice. As an aside and regarding men’s reluctance to see their doctors, some years ago a US government agency launched a campaign to encourage men to have the exam to which you referred and, generally, to be more proactive with their health. In big white letters against a pink background, the billboards read “This year thousands of men will die from stubbornness." Below which, on one of the billboards some wag spray painted “NO WE WON’T.”

Cover 5 miles with patrol pack 45 LB, in a hour. Hit a fig11 with my bolt action rifle at 300 metres with iron sights in prone, kneeling, standing with iron sights. The problem is I can no longer run 5 km , five days a week due to my knees, and ankles. So instead I do 5km in the pool.
