How To Adjust Wahl Clippers The Right Way

In this video I explain how to adjust the blade and the power of a Wahl 5 Star Senior. All you need is the clipper itself (of course) and a philips head screwdriver. I also explain how the motor works which will ultimately affect how we adjust the clipper.

    I watched a dozen videos today looking for guidance in adjusting my blade. Not just the "zero gap" or close to it in and out, but from side to side. This video was absolutely the clearest one, clearest confident narration, best closeup focus and angles. The entire production is totally professional. Thanks!

    This was the best explanation I've seen. There are plenty of "zero gap" and "how to change blades" videos, but nothing explaining why the blades are offset right out of the box. In fact, I just bought a pair of Magic Clips (thinking that my old pair were broken) and when they arrived I assumed they were broken as well because I couldn't get the blades to line up on these either. But thanks to this video, I now know that I have 2 perfectly fine set of clippers✌🏾 -Much appreciated!

    The hours I’ve spent trying to set my blades as I can see 1 side is closer than the other. Was thinking it was a faulty clipper/trimmer. Thank you so much for this video.

    adam lee hadfield I’ve had different experience with my seniors brother. When the blades aren’t parallel, the problem often is that you’ve likely tighten one screw too much before the lower/higher side is parallel. My solution: Gradually tighten one side and carefully adjust the still blade to parallel, otherwise, you’ll move your adjustment thus making the opposite side become misaligned. The bottom line is to tighten the screws slowly and look to make sure the blades are even BEFORE the screws are fully tightened. I’ve never heard of the blades which are designed to move parallel move in an arc motion. 🤔

    The important thing to remember is that furthest left teeth of the front moving blade should also line up dead center with the back blade's teeth. The right side of the blade is the side that normally goes up higher and the left side lower.

    Set the tension first, then center/adjust the blade and you shouldn't have that problem. Set the tension by backing off the screw, when it make a noise, screw it back it slowly until it stops (a little more if it continues).

    When I do align the extreme left tooth of the front blade to the back blade and I turn it on, as soon as i turn it off its in a different position. How would I really know if my wahl seniors are perfectly aligned? Should I adjust the front blade first right in the middle?

  • @everettwhite9874

    @everettwhite9874

    4 жыл бұрын

    Lost Boyz Sounds like you don’t have the correct screw, the screw may be stripped, or you’re not tightening the screw enough. The correct alignment for you is pretty much based on your “touch” or how much pressure you use when cutting close to the skin as an example. The most important thing to always be aware of is not to extend the moving blade beyond the still blade. An effective way to learn that lesson is after setting the blades turn the clippers on an tough your forehead with them. If that feels uncomfortable to you your clients will be uncomfortable too.
