How to Adjust the HLCR Shocks on your Lynx Snowmobile?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Let's demystify the suspension setup. In his Suspension Setup Masterclasses, Lynx R&D Manager and two-time FIM Snowcross World Champion, Janne Tapio covers the basics of suspension setup of your 2023 Rave RE or Xterrain RE snowmobile.
Part 3: HLCR Shock Adjustment
The Lynx Rave RE and Xterrain RE models come with 3-way adjustable shock absorbers. To make it easier to find the suitable setup, we have made 3 pre-configured suspension settings. In this episode, Janne Tapio shows how to use those settings. These instructions are for 2023 Lynx Rave RE and Xterrain RE models, equipped with the PPS3 rear suspension, as well as some of the 2022 Rave RE models with similar shock package.

From my test and tune experience, I have further Lynx suspension and clutching information if it would be beneficial to your program. @Lynx Snowmobiles very informative video. How do you set up the front shocks spring setting (preload)? Is there some sort of sag setting like the rear shock? Also how do you set the spring (preload) on the front shock in the skid? It seems no one ever talks about the front shock In rear suspension and front ski shocks when it comes to Spring preload? Thanks for any info.

It's funny that you also "had to" rotate the center shock piston to be able to adjust the rebound 😉. (It magically rotates in the video at 3.21-7).

Rachel Bradford set your rear shock to 1.4 inches to 1.5 inches of preload. Center shock at 1 inch of preload and front shocks at 5mm of preload just under a quarter inch. Loosen all spanner nuts until spring is full loose. Measure spring then tighten spanner nut snd measure spring until you reach recommend preload stated. That should put you close. Hard to get 3.75 inches of sag at that weight without a lighter spring. 3 inches or so will be your closest. Which works cause I run it just fine. I'm 5'5 150bs and it feels stiff with 15 clicks on compression but I ride hard. Set preload then tune shocks to riding style. If you have any questions let me know I can help you out

Nothing confusing at all here if you have ridden the sled this season and already made adjustments as outlined in the manual. I've never pulled the strap up because with the r motion it effectively reduces the shock travel by 25-30%. I'm assuming the same would apply to PPS3. Yes or no? Thanks! Nothing wrong with having a legend like Janne Tapio explaining suspension set up. If you don't understand him watch it until you do!

@@LynxSnowmobiles Well the manual does not say anything about std preload or klicker adjustmens for the shredder RE rear suspention. The front suspention is easy 3 klick and rebound but the rear only like more preload stiffer suspention or softer with less preload. And if you have more info on this please tell us the page in the manual. // Andreas

At 2:18 you adjust the low speed compression setting to 30 clicks counter clock wise. Then at 2:28 you adjust the high speed compression damping 2 full turns. But I see when you are making the high speed adjustment the low speed is also turning as well (they rotate in unison), so do you need to go back and reset the low speed again? If so, I think it would make more sense to set the high speed first then low speed because the high speed nut will hold itself in place?

I just wanted to update this thread. I talked to my dealer in person and they have a shock guy that's familiar with these shocks and he has rebuilt a few. Bottom line is it doesn't make a difference. So when you adjust the high speed and the low speed spins as well it does not change the low speed setting even though it's rotating. We actually did a test and when rotating the high speed the low speed turns but does not "click", it's just free spinning. He tried to explain saying its a double sleeve system etc. But he said if you seen it apart it would make more sense.

All 2023, as well as 2022 in-season sleds have twice as much (8) clicks per turn for improved tolerance. If you have an earlier version, the setting is half of what is being mentioned here (e.g. 15 instead of 30).
