I recently bought 2 of the blade alignment tools and I am very happy that I made the purchase. I use one of the tools at each roller so that I can make my adjustments as I do both sides. Cooks had a recent price reduction on these tools. I was really surprised at how much both rollers were off on my sawmill. After making adjustments the blade traveled through the cut much easier than before the adjustments. The blade was dragging in the cut before and the adjustments made a big difference on logs larger than 12 inches. These blade alignment tools are worth their weight in gold. Thank you Cooks for the fine tools you make and the great instructional videos you provide on how to use the tools and make adjustments.

Just put a set a these guides on a Hudson Oscar 30 mill. Had this mill for over 20 years. It came with pad guides that have been replaced multiple times. Constant replacement and limited adjustment. Lot of trouble with diving and raising blades. Your guides required some welding to adapt to the Hudson mill. Fortunatly got a friend very good welder. Tried em out today! This mill now saws accuratly! There is a lot of adjustment on your guides followed your instructions just flat sided some ceiling joists and no adjustment was needed! The little 10 horse motor purrs like a top no drag maintains rpm. Why didn't I have these guides 25 years ago? Only got an hour on em but am impressed! Very little vibration on the top side of the blade used to be an issue...

Very helpful indeed! Explained some things which were not clear from the written instructions...should make blade adjustments easier in the future. Thanks.

Nice vid, I think Cooks use to recommend running the flange 1/4" behind the blade and still should. At 1/8" behind you will break blades faster as the blade pushes back more on higher HP mills running lower hook angles . I get really good blade life at 1/4" behind running a 30hp diesel 4 degree blades at high feed rates. When I hear the back of the blade hit the flange its dull. You might get by with 1/8" back running low hp and a 10 degree blade at slow feed rates

You used the most important word that identities an important feature of a cook manual mill. A manual mill has a place in all markets if it can accurately resaw large cants. Cutting logs into cants is more frequent in my area due to an increase is Sawyer’s (worthy if further expansion). Few manual mills have the capability of a cook mill.
