This doesn't work for me. I waited 3hrs to covert the file and the PS3 said the file was corrupted. The original worked, but but the converted file with subs.

You don't need srt file if you are converting a mkv file. In subtitles just click on add track, and if the subtitle file is embedded into the mkv container, it will appear. Uncheck Burn in and then your subtitles can be turned on and off in the mp4 file when playing.

It works with Any Video Converter. I tried it.

I'm using HandBrake 0.9.9.5330 64bit version, but the interface and mekanism in subtitle section is different from your version in this video,, if I import .srt there is no burn in option, it's only available in "add" but the source only shows foreign audio scan. I can still import subs but its looks like seperate from burn in. Please help thanks

Had the same problem bro. Just delete the current version you have en download HandBrake 0.9.5 and skip the updates when doing the installation :D

I have now tried 3 times to burn into an MP$ its SRT subtitle files and just does not work Maybe somebody can clarify step by step how to do it because I'm following this video step by step and nothing happens ... it stays w/o the subtitle

Is there any way to hardcode the srt subtitles in handbrake?

Joy in MakeMKV. Unfortunately, using MakeMKV, my files were several times larger. But I did have subtitles, and very easily. Still, I couldn't use .mkv files using PLEX > Roku. Using srt files, I could make my mp4 files and drop the srt file in the same folder. So far the only way to get subtitles on PLEX > Roku solution. Again, a problem, subtitle text way to early for the voice and no way to manually "delay" the sync.

Where do I take that subtitle sheet from the beggining? Help!

yOU CAN search for subtitile for any movies in subscene.com and once u have the file right click on it and go to properties, then where it says opens with: press change and click notepad

Follow the same instructions but when you go to add the subtitles in handbrake instead of selecting burned in only, check forced as well..I usually check default as well when hard coding subs...so that should burn them in permanently into the video. Good Luck! :]

this software version is old. The latest model doesn't show the "burn"... help please!!

It does work but you need to enable subtitles on your Media Player (Vlc, Windows media player, etc ) IF you don't enable it it won't show them...

hardcoded subtitles are permanent subtitles that becomes the part of video while soft subtitles and just text which can be made on or off as per requirement from subtitle setting in any player.

In Windows console you enter: "Tools\MP4Box.exe -add AUDIO.m4a#audio -add MOVIE.h264#video -add SUBTITLES.srt:hdlr=sbtl:lang=pl:group=2:layer=-1 -new READY_MOVIE_WITH_SUBTITLES.mp4"

Appears not. I looked for an option and found none. I suggest you dump WMP and use VLC media player.

OK here is the answer I was looking for. I am trying to créate an output file that I will copy to my USB and play it on my TV. In order to do so I found another SWR called EASY SUBTITLE SYNCHRONIZER, it also gives you the tolos to fix teh SUBTITLE files which regularly are not in sync with the movie, because they may be incomplete or have been poorly done.

This not about hard coded subs, this is about soft coded. Soft coded are to embed the subtitles in the Video as a subtitle stream (similar to a DVD's subtitles). this is 'soft' because a player can choose to display the subtitle stream or not. 'hard coding' is rendering the subtitles into the video stream, ie permanently changing the video stream, where they can't be turned off by the player. Big difference my friend

You google "subtitles" all these hits/sites have thousands of subtitles for all movies and TV series, all these are in "srt" format, or you download the freeware Aegisub and make your own subtitles srt files for your favorite movies, family movies, etc. A 12 years old kid can use Aegisub. A specific search on Google for srt files would be done with "filetype:srt" but i don't think it's very useful.

Either you got your computer literacy from a cereal box or the worlds dumbest person told you that soft coding subtitles means the same thing as hard coded subtitles. SOFT CODED= subtitles that can be turned on or off. HARD CODED = subtitles that are BURNED IN and CANNOT be turned off
