How to add Slime tyre sealant to tubes with Presta valves without removing the tyre or tube
In this video I'll show you how you can easily add Slime tyre sealant to an inner tube with Presta valves with removable cores, without the need for special tools or adapters, and without having to remove the tyre or the tube from the wheel rim.

Very clever ! Excellent solution. Possibly the best tutorial I have ever watched and there have been many. Thanks !
Saved the day my friend. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Cool tip, but even easier is to use a Presta to Schrader adapter. Remove the valve core with a valve core removal tool, screw on the adapter with hose, attach the bottle and squese in the right amount. With slime installed, remove the bottle, hose and adapter, screw back the Presta valve and pump up the tyre. Job done. I can also share how to unclogg a clogged valve core; Just remove the valve core and clean in a small jar with kerosene (paraffin/lamp oil), dry and screw it back.

Great tips, and super easy if you buy the proper adapter, thanks for the write up!

First try ever with slime or presta valves, worked great for 4 tires! No mess!
It was helpful. You saved me time. I didn't have removable valves so now I know to look for them when I buy new tubes. Thanks again!
Nice job! Clear, concise, good close-up videography.

Great tips for the zip tie and thread tape, I knew someone smart on YT would have a good solution for the oversized slime tube. Worked great, thanks!
The first video I have ever watched where what was said could be done. Thank you👍

@Jadiel Marvin Definitely, have been using flixzone for years myself :)
I put sealant in a non removable presta valve after watching a video on how to remove it . It worked ,it's done . You back off that small nut on top and push it into the tube . Put a clothes hanger clip.around the valve to hold it under the stem. Then push it back in ,put the nut back on . Presta valves suck . The only 29 " tube available had presta valves . Now it has sealant in it . I'll see how long it goes without a flat
Really useful video with clear professional sounding advice. Thank you for posting.
If your Slime isnt flowing in or seems to block as it enters the valve, boil the kettle and stand the bottle of slime in for 5 mins, flowed in like a charm. Thanks for this video, worked brilliantly. Hopefully punctures are almost non exsistant now
The Stans Sealant (not Race version) lasts about 6-7 months. I deflate my tires very slowly after this period, remove the presta valve core and add new sealant very slowly. I always seem to spill some sealant no matter how careful I try. And the presta nozzle can't be in the top most or bottom most position. I position the tube nozzle about half way up like you did so gravity will take effect. My presta valves lately have been clogging and have to be replaced to add air to my tires. Valve cores are very cheap. The Stans brand I think are the best.
Clear and concise. Thanks so much for your excellent video.
Very informative and helpful thankyou
very helpful, i don't have to take down my inner tube, thank you!!!!!
Thank you. Saved me a ton of work, cheers
This worked really well for me. Thanks!
Well done! Very good! Thank you for sharing us! Nice roads!
Thanks so much, this was just the right amount of clear, concise information my "Dougal from father ted" brain can manage
I was taught to file down the top of the screw and then remove the small nut. Push the screw into the tube and fill as you describe and show in video. Then by feel you search and insert screw into valve. Replace nut and pinch the end of the screw. Add air with valve at the 12 o'clock position to avoid slime plugging the valve. Been doing it for many years.

i am afraid, that i wont be able to push it back in the position?
Thank you so much man i just did it like you said and its working perfectly
Chapeau, brilliant mate!
Thank you!
THANK YOU SO MUCH

But what do I do if my valve core isn’t removable?
Awesome
You can drill the rim a bit and install standard valve tubes…and then use Stans No Tubes Sealant in the tube….bike shop secret 🤫
@niteblaster1
2 жыл бұрын
I've done that and the stans Sealant doesn't even work on a thorn 😱 And it didn't even seal my bike when I was tubeless, You may as well put milk in your tyres 😂
Personally have used salon many times on electric scooter always worked
It's also possible to remove the valve using the base of a chain link extractor. Just the right size.
*Does slime make the tires slower? I have skinny 20" Continental Contact Speed 1.10" tires and want to flat proof them without throwing off the low rolling resistance.*

Yes it weighs more than a tube

@@joeygallegos3503 Thanks, I'll take my chances with the kelvar lining that comes in the Continental Contact Speed tires and leave them as is.*
Is this well working
What size is the hose? I lost mine.
It is not necessary to create a tight seal if the valve is on top. All the sealant went in the tube, none was spilled, as there was much less resistance toward the tube. I found this after trying the trick shown in this video, but I was unable to tie a tie to create a seal - perhaps, my tie was thinner.
Can I use a shrader adapter on my presta valve (obviously after removing the core) and not bother with the cable tie?
@chrisdevereux
2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I haven't tried - depends how tight the fit between the adapter and the plastic tube is and I don't have any experience of this.
@lewismaynard4

@@chrisdevereux just that my thinking is the plastic tube that you get with slime bottle is designed to fit a shrader valve snuggly.
Does the tire need to be empty like no air before applying the gel/slime ?
@chrisdevereux
Жыл бұрын
Once you remove the valve core the air will come out quickly anyway so no need to do anything special.
Do u have to let the slime dry for a few hours before adding air back into the tube ?
@chrisdevereux
3 жыл бұрын
No, I think the idea is that it stays liquid so that it can work its way into any puncture hole you might get in the future.

It can't set I've had some sat in my kitchen for a week and it still looks the same, it doesn't work it just makes a mess when you get a puncture😀
What flat edges?????
I did this and nothing would pump through ,Just sat in the tube. Had a valve extender on as have 50mm rims but did not have a valve in the original tubular tyre. The seal worked with the zip tie but nothing would pump into the tyre.

@@colinsmith8908 what’s worse the tiny bit of slime that went into the valve extender went hard immediately and I couldn’t get air in unless I dug it out. Never use this again

How much slime should I put..?😢

One bottle does both tyres, so 50/50?
it is possible to inject slime via non removable cores which this video incorrectly implied was not possible

How? Just shoot it in with the valve open?
Does putting slime in your tyres affect how much psi you can put into your tube?
@chrisdevereux
2 жыл бұрын
Slime don't mention the need to reduce the PSI in their instructions so I would say, no.
I've had that stuff in 4 tubed bikes for 2 years and it hasn't worked once,not even on a thorn, it's got tiny particles of rubber which is only suitable for a car, saying that, it didn't even work on the car 😱
just pinch it with your finger and a rag, if it clogs stop squeezing.... squirt the clog in the trash and continue...
It's really beyond stupid that these sealant companies don't give you two sizes of hose's 🤬 How many years have we been using presta valves now?
Presta valves suck. Thumbs down, whoever invented them should give themself an uppercut.
He is not informative. He does not show how to unscrew the tip nut, and how to address the valve stem that will be lost in the tube...

You can find other videos on removing presta valve cores. I remember seeing one come up ehen I was looking for a refresher on tube replacement
Awful vide, not even show how the valve core is removed
This stuff is useless it dont work
