Rather than wrap two ground wires under the single ground terminal, you can pigtail the ground. Remove the existing ground wire from the old outlet and twist it really well around the ground wire in the new cable. Make these twists a few inches down on the new ground wire, and then use a green wire nut with a hole in the top so it makes a nice pigtail to connect to the old outlet. Also, every electrician I've seen says never backstab into inexpensive residential-grade outlets. Use the side terminals. If it's too hard to push 5 wires back into the box then pigtail the hot and neutral wires as well. I always pigtail my DIY projects using wirenuts or wago connectors.

Or you can use a flex bit to drill through the studs in the way.

Hey good morning. Thanks for the video. I’m doing this today in my home and it’s pretty self explanatory but which one is the video that shows moving the outlet to a different stud bay?

Hey! Good Morning - this is the correct video that shows me going through a stud bay. If you have questions, let me know. I can try to assist through this message chain. Good luck, and take your time.

Do you have to run wires to the bottom screws for both outlets to work? The outlet below has 4 wires and a ground, does the new outlet need 4 as well?

Great question! So, no.. the bottom has 4 wires because it’s linked to another outlet in the room. I used a new electrical wire to run from the existing outlet - ground, black (hot), white (neutral) - to the new outlet which will have ground/black/white. I hope this makes sense. There won’t be 4 wires around the screws, only the 3 (ground/black/white)
