Thanks the difference is pretty straight forward. With an MS account, it will be nice if the synced data included personalisation, themes, how task bar is setup, third party apps list to potentially reinstall, I find these are the things that take the longest to setup after a new install. Also, with an MS account, is it possible to have the username on the windows PC within C:\Users show the actual username from the MS account instead of the local part of the email account?

But it doesn’t let you remove your Microsoft account. You are just adding another local id to login in the second part of the video. It doesn’t solve the objective of your video topic.

Agreed. The sole purpose for my watching the video was learning to remove the Microsoft account completely from the PC. Video was well made and clear in it's instruction, but the title is a bit misleading.

Did you ever find how to do it? I just want my PC to start without having to enter a password and I don't want my MS account to be connected to Windows. It's like once you enter it you can never remove it again.

@new history I found a partial fix. There is an option now to add a MS account to just one app, you have to tell it to only use the account for that app and it won't bind to your Windows account. So I factory reset my Windows 10 install and I'm fine now but no fix for removing it still.

I Figured it out!!!! go to Accounts > Access work or school > disconnect the windows account

@@codeChris At least for me, that wasn't the account I was looking to remove. The account was bound to Windows itself and only showed in the account part in your info.

How does it work from the files & system point of view? Does it copy all your folders from C:\Users\[YourLocalAccountName] into a newly created C:\Users\[YourMicrosoftAccountName] or is it keep on utilizing the existing profile folders?

Good video, but the guys doesn't show how to delete the account, its showing only how to change from a Microsoft account to a local account. I found where you can delete it. Windows Key -> Settings -> Accounts -> Email & accounts and you going to see your microsoft account registered there. Click on it and you have 2 buttons: Manage and Remove. Chose Remove and done.

Does changing or signing out of accounts delete files or are the files transferred between accounts?

I checked in my settings. The option "Sign in with a local account instead" has vanished. It isn't there. I think in the new feature update of Windows 10, Microsoft has removed the option. It is very cleverly forcing people to make Microsoft accounts. Well what can we do. :)

I still have it, though. I think you're in the "Email & accounts" section of the side bar, but "Sign in with a local account instead" is in the section above, on "Your info". If it's not there, then that's weird because I just did this 2 months after you posted this comment.

I work from home on my personal computer using my own network. I never VPN into work, however I did add a microsoft work account so I could automatically connect to work through Teams. I dont have outlook installed, everything I do is over a browser except for Teams. I noticed a few odd things . I now see Edge Bing shows me as logged into work and searches my work intranet. I see work people contacts show up when I enter coworker names on my Windows run line. Also during Teams updates I did get a message about allowing work to manage my computer I rejected at one point. What's my exposure to allowing work admins seeing my personal browsing , downloads and installs?
