How to add FUR to your figures and 3D prints

For some time I have wanted to add faux fur to my figures.
Hello & welcome, It's Shirley 😊
I had a 3D printed Ludo from the Labyrinth film, sadly the print had problems so I thought adding faux fur could hide the problems.
I had some faux fur left over from an old project that was perfect, just needed to dye it orange/red.
I used Tacky Glue to stick the fur to the plastic, this worked well... although took a long time working in small sections, allowing sections to dry before adding the next layer.
I had some very old inks and mixed red and brown to colour the fur.
I took some time to cut and style the fur to look like Ludo's and fixed it into place with hairspray.
I am so pleased with the result, I can't wait to try it on more figures.

That looked like quite a fiddly project. Your efforts really paid off, though. It turned out looking great. Well done.

Just the video I was looking for. Preparing to print a Critters model that I want to put fur on but was kind of nervous about doing it without a base idea of how. This helps a lot. Thank you.

You are so welcome 😀 I also have a video of adding long fur to a Chewbacca model, I was very happy with how they both turned out, I wish you luck with your model.👍

Ha-ha yes! If you notice I didn't start filming until I had worked out the technique :) and yes he looked quite fluffy half way through, it took as much time to cut and style the fur as it did to add it, but very happy with the result.

Wow this looks amazing! Was this a 3d print? If I ever print an animal that has fur I might try this!

Hi there! Yes the print went wrong on this one, you can see it on the back when I am painting. Thought this would be a good way to hide it. I was really please with how it came out, you should definitely try it 😄
