How to add a water outlet to a steam dryer.

My dryer needed a water hook up and I did it without a plumber. Don't waste hard earned cash on a plumber when you can do it yourself. Just make sure you have the correct Y connector and it is a breeze.

    Pure genius! They sell a steam dryer install kit and it comes with a short hose to solve that issue you first had but it is pretty expensive. I like that garden hose T solution! Great video.

    Very detailed and easy to follow. Thank you so much. I asked two ppl that work in Lowe’s to explain how the connectors work bc I bought both washer and dryer from someone. Lowe’s employees that worked the appliance area had no clue. So, thank you again for making it clear to viewers! 👍🏾

    Just one quick comment here (nice video btw) about the threads being on the outside of the splitter. I was curious about that and saw another splitter with the threads on the outside in a kit, and then realized that the short hose can be connected first to the source if it is a female to female hose (which is what the kit has). Then with the splitter at the end of the short hose, connect the two lines going to the washer and dryer (giving you more length if needed by running the short hose toward the middle of the two). Note that this might also make the open/close valves on the splitter (if you have one that has them like the video) easier to get to.

    Hello lady I am ok with music Just a little loud, but my point is, thoses 2 black little things are the closing water valves and they should be on 🐦 eye view , so you stop the water from running to the washer or to the Dryer. in case of emergency or whenever you need. I hope you will find that out.

    If your washer is located indoors you should not have any problem with the rubber washers in splitter going bad. My washer was located outside in a shed in Florida. Just wanted to make you aware that may be a potential problem. So Don't worry if it's indoors! :)

    WRONG! Short hose from water supply to the y-connector. Then, one hose from the y-connector to washer, other hose goes from the y-connector to the dryer. Make sure it is installed on the cold side. The steel one you bought is for a garden hose. It will work, but those leak easily.

  • @Cocoatreat

    @Cocoatreat

    My dryer came with a hose like the steel one…..so i would assume it is NOT made for the garden. She did fine.

  • @misternell09

    A short 12" hose is recommended between the cold water supply valve and the Y splitter. I found the valves on the splitter to be unnecessary, but it looks neat and seems to work for her. 😎

    Sorry, but I don't see what problem you were trying to solve here. The black hose connector fits onto the water outlet. Then you are supposed to let it hang down and connect your two hoses from both the washer and dryer into the other 2 ends of the Y connector. All male/female connections fit fine. You just may need to buy one extra braided hose for the dryer with is only a few bucks. This way, you don't have to have the ugly Y splitter and its two hoses stuck on the end of your water outlet where it can be seen. So I have no idea why so many commenters are claiming this "solves their problem" when all they need is another $5 short braided hose (which should have been provided by the dryer manufacturer).
