How To 2012 Dodge Ram GearBox Adjustment, steering play

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My truck was wandering around the road, i would hit a bunch and it would be hard to keep it straight in a line, after checking my steering play i had about 4" of play, after adjusting the gear box i now have 2" play which is where it should be. The hardest thing is getting to the nut and bolt, in my case i was able to get to it from the top with an elbow joint and some extensions, some vehicles might be to tight and you might need to remove the gear box or a radiator fan to give you more access, but if you can see the bolt from the top, try to work with extensions to make things easier for you.

Technically, all that play was not just in the gear. You have to look at the output shaftr while rocking the steering wheel to see how much play it really has. Some of what you feel as play is just the linkage moving. Also, these particular gears are meant to have preload. So the screw in the middle is not just set for zero lash but it's actually got a torque spec and procedure for proper adjustment.

Do they make a stabilizer/Damper for 2012 Ram 1500s? My wheel balance seems to be thrown off every other few weeks it seems. I understand shitty driving throws it off, but I promise I don’t drive that hard. I have a 6in lift with 35in tires and a coworker of mine had told me that I could use a stabilizer because of my tires. Now granted I hardly know a damn thing about vehicles other than an oil/ filter change and to change a tire lol. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks. 👍🏻
