I figured out that looking where you’ll land while rotating your arms (before the full rotation) helps a lot to spot the landing point. Thank you so much for all your vids!!

Thank you! I was able to fix my 180 jumps in a single session...actually, the first time I tried your tip of spotting the place I am jumping off from and then turning my head and shoulders. In the past I was focusing on turning my head and shoulders. Your tip helped me fix the timing and trully wait to the top of my pump. Now I feel stable and confident. I still have to practice my weak side (I lead with my right leg and turning right is my weak spot) but now that is just more of a mental matter, haha.

Hi Shorty! I was curious as you said if you lead with the right foot and jump to the left it is easier than leading left and jumping left, then would it be easier to try jumping right when leading with the left foot? Or does it not work out well for you?

  • @ShortysSkateSeries

For general skating I lead with my left foot and like to spin/ jump left. So for tricks where I have to rotate more than 180 degrees, I will swap my leading foot (lead right) so my hips are open to the turn and I can rotate my upper body before jumping. If I only have to rotate 180, I will normally just lead with my left. I know some skaters prefer to spin the other direction instead of swapping leading feet, but for me I have issues keep my axis upright so I find swapping feet easier for me. I hope that makes sense!

@@ShortysSkateSeries Yes it does because I seem to be having the same issue hah! I lead left and tend to want to jump left but I've been having a hard time and tried jumping right and it felt easier but more confusing to my brain? I will try swapping my leading foot for jumps and seeing how it goes. Thanks for replying!

@@ShortysSkateSeries are you saying that when you jump 180 with your leading foot left, you jump left in the opposite direction of how your hips are opened? I lead with my left foot but when I jump 180 or do a transition, I lead with my right foot. I wasn’t even conscious of this up until recently. On flats it isn’t a big deal but when trying to do this after seeing this tutorial it completely screwed with my brain. It makes me worry that I won’t be able to lend a lot of tricks because of this.
