How This Speedrunner DESTROYED Minecraft's Biggest Record

Ойындар

Sagi's 8:36 speedrun world record in Minecraft 1.16 RSG kind of came out of nowhere - but this is the story of how it happened. Yes, this video is very late, but hopefully it's still a story you enjoy hearing. Please go support Sagi on his channel:

    A few people were angry about the fact that their favorite runner not breaking the wr and instead someone as unknown as sagi, but in reality he worked equally as hard for it. Run was insane, the amount of nerve handling required would’ve been huge. At catjam said, “Try hitting the cleanest 4 bed on a 7 flat end enter, then hit me up.”

    Sagi wasn't actually playing a run on another instance of Minecraft, he just hit the auto-reset hotkey and created a new world in the same instance. While leaving the world is also technically not allowed, there is an exception for bug fixes and some leeway for accidents, as long as the runner returns to the world immediately and in the same recording, which sagi did.

    I am a speedrunner myself and I wouldn't say that speedrunning is simply the need to prove yourself that you can push yourself further, it's the need to produce a run that you are satisfied with, take kosmicd12 for example, a former world record holder in smb1 any% that grinded the game for years and then got a world record of 4:55.646 which he said he was satisfied with, and ever since he has stopped running the category, the thing is for a run to be satisfactory it needs to have good rng and you need to play well otherwise you feel carried by rng or you played well and got rolled.

    True, but that depends on the motivation. Some runners run to break minute barriers, others run only when there is competition and when no ones challenges their record they just leave until someone beats th, others run the game because they have fun running it, others do it for accomplishment, others do it to push themselves, and others do it to become satisfied at long, long last Speedrunners come in a wode variety

    Sorry to break it to you, but Sagi used ninbot. Notice at 12:18 where it says "location copied to clipboard" in chat? That's Sagi inputting the angle into a calculator (that isn't shown on the recording). The only difference between this and any other run that uses a bot is he didn't need to throw a second eye because the stronghold was ocean exposed.

    This is late, but you have a very nice sense of humour in these videos. It's very nicely placed and never feels overdone or played up. There was a really nice narrative through this story as well which I think works really well for speedrunning content. I know content volume has been an issue, but I think spacing it out and focusing on the story and buildup works well, and I think it would work well even if there has subsequently been a faster run after. I think nhe quality of your content helps the videos to stand on their own without necessarily having that reporting element on the newest speedruns all the time. I think the fact that its easy to binge through older non-current runs is a testament to that. Anyway, weird comment, but I hope you actually read this.

  • @bloodwolf2609
    @bloodwolf2609 Жыл бұрын

    I mean it was inevitable that someone that doesn't create content would break a record; just because it's someone that isn't showing their progress and always grinding their records online shouldn't warrant any less of an accomplishment just because they've played the game offline. On top of this, I appreciate the mod team for actually verifying the run, not because I respect the leaderboard verification, but because you can tell that the mods actually care about putting real runs on there, rather than blatantly and ignorantly enforcing the rules as they've been written. Despite the argument that hotkeying a reset key is risky, knowing full well the repurcussions and rules of submitting runs, there is obviously no ill-intent to cheat and even if the run was ignorantly rejected, it still would've been a WR accomplishment from my perspective, and I'm sure the mods would've had a similar sentiment. Very well deserved WR, GG.

    @@mika_mdf why not? As long as he understands the game he's playing and can learn strategies to get better, he can. It's definitely unlikely, but plausible.

    I think that if it wasn't for the time the dragon took to perch it could've been a possible sub 8 minutes run But I'm still amazed for that 8:36, I have watched the run like 5 times as of now since it got posted

    That was an above avg perch. With an average perch it would be a 9-11XX

    Ever since the run got verified, I was honestly pissed that the run with a stupidly big time difference wasn't beaten by a well known runner. But after watching this video, I don't think anyone** else deserved it more. Also, in hindsight, I didn't even know who Brentilda and Cube were before their world records. But all that aside, congratulations Sagi, you deserved it. And great video too, S tier channel for sure. Can't wait for subway surfers xD Anyone but Crookst...
