How this Kenyan man turned pig farming into a fortune on his 61 acres of land in England | LNN
Flavian Omondi is only 32 but his farming life in England cannot be matched . Today, the father to be sits on 61 Acres of land in England rearing pigs, sheep and goats in a land where farming is rarely done by black people.
On this episode of Inspire Global, he talks to us extensively on leaving Kenya at 16, embracing farming and why Kenyan youths need to change their perspective on farming and get to work
Here is our first episode of our England Tour 2023

I don’t know why I’m so emotional watching this. Thanks so much Lynn for bringing us this incredible inspirational young man. As an African living here in the UK i’m just so humbled by his spirit. Would love to meet him one day. He has so much to offer to the UK and Kenyan. I agree East West, home is best. I hope he invests back home…I think farming is more profitable in Kenya. He mentioned the land but Kenya has furtile soil and great weather….rain… May God bless you and this young man. Proud African here. I’m jealous….that food looks amazing. Would love to visit his farm some day. No shame in hard work Amen 🙏 ❤❤

Flavian is living my absolute dream. Lynn, two things Kenya can do is re-introduce agriculture studies from primary school to university. They also need to completely eradicate corruption & land grabbing. in the UK every farmer has a livestock guardian dogs( LGDs), very well trained dogs that guard livestock. The worst thing a farmer can worry about are foxes attacking flocks. I have lived in the Kent countryside (Kent is the Garden of England)… Surrounded by farmers everywhere.. I have never heard of any farmer losing their flock to thieves. It’s normal in ushago areas here to leave your doors or cars open and no one steals from you. In rare occasions, farmers may lose farm machinery to thieves but that’s targeted theft particularly for quad bikes..

What an amazing conversation. In life hard work pays and this young man is so focused and I agree with you Lynn he doesn't need good luck, luck as we know runs out at some point, but his work ethics and focus will keep him going. It's also true that Africans need to change their attitude about work as a whole. Going to University doesn't necessarily mean one must look to go do an office job only. Flavian is proof of that. But most young graduates feel they deserve that and end up walking the streets looking for that " perfect" office job. I wish this conversation would be watched by many and learn from it. I'm watching this from Zambia. Let's find a way to inspire our young people to utilise the land that's so vast in all of our continent. Wishing Flavian and his family more success. Blessings
Flavian, your passion for farming is infectious. As a black farmer in England, you are a pride not just to Kenyans but to all Africans.

What do you grow/produce? Where are you based? I love to support local farmers & traders 🇬🇧
In kenya, a farmer wakes up at 9am and chickens already woke up at 6am. 😅 I saw my mom waking up at 5:30 am to cater for her animals and i used to wonder why she could not sleep and its her own farm. I've snapped after this interview and now realise my mom was on the radder. She was such a hardworking woman. We told her to slow down now at 84, but she still tends to her litte affairs at the farm. Blesss her. May she live long.

With good farming techniques and Govt support Nigeria could produce more food, including for export.
There is also a Zimbabwean guy with a farm. He was the first person to grow white maize in the UK after they had told him that it wouldn't work.
He doesn't want to boss people around, he wants to do the work. Such a humble statement in a world full of self promoting attitudes. You're are an incredible human being!!

Just 2 weeks ago listening to BBC radio 4 on a Sunday morning, I listened to Flavian Obiero talking to Charlotte Smith and I was mesmerized. It's nice that Lynn has gone and got an interview. Good job
Flavian as an x farmer who reared rare breeds cattle and sheep ,I wish you all the best ,just keep that dream alive. I was fortunate enough to have been born on a farm but when I left school I became a soldier and spent three months in Kenya ,nanyuki then farmed when I left the army ,started with the money in my pocket on rented land .sadly after seven years they sold house and land ,it was so hard to sell all what I had built up,I now live in Spain wishing I was still farming ,maybe Kenya?😅
This is amaizing. Since I joined highschool, I knew I'll one day be a big farmer, went to university I did Bsc Agriculture, I love agriculture and I think farming is also in me, in my blood. I still believe one of these days i'll reach where I want to be by God's grace. Agriculture all the way. Thank you for this amaizing show @LNN
I'm proud of this young man. Farming is life, as Omondi said if you don't like farming don't eat
This is briilliant! I usually look forward to seeing him on Countryfile and Gardener's World. Super proud of him. Last night he talked about eating mandazi after a hard day's work 😊 Please give us details so we can visit his farm and buy his produce hapa UK

Super proud of this young man. Can he attend the next 'Kenyans and friends in the park-UK". I offer to volunteer in his stand bora pig 🐖 choma inuke. May God bless the work of your hands. Safe delivery to Nikii.
Wow ! When I saw him doing the show I just said kikuyu. Later kujua he has the blood. You are amazing. Wish u the best. The show is inspiring. We can do it. Young people open your eyes, mind. Don't give yourself a class. Do any job. The desire matters.
Well done, I am so glad he is doing this, farming. I lived in London for many years and now living in Derbyshire, Midlands, England. Now, I see how it is possible to acquire piece of land in some shires(counties). Some you can build a home/house or farm. So, I am not surprised he has done this good and with support of his partner, as it matters a lot, is good work. 15:38 Impressive.
Brilliant story, Lynn. I love the young man, his focus, his vision - says volumes about him, his background. Very heartwarming story to read. Keep it up Flavian.💪
