That chrysocolla sample is stunning. Not only is it a very large one, the richness of the color is exceptional. Common pieces, small enough to fit in your palm, would go for $30 to $40 and have an irregular texture. I wouldn't even dare to try and put a price on the one shown here. It's surely 4 figures or more.

Just a $5000 faceting machine...and a $120 plus copper lap shown Lol. It's awesome this guy is able to replicate these cuts so well. I am a noob in the gem world , I love fancy color sapphire like parti multicolor sapphires and fancy tanzanite colors best... really want to try cutting . My profile picture is a rough 3.8 CT Australian blue on teal . It is sitting on a white paper cone ,on a flashlight. I LOVE how the color of the light turns that color blue when the beam passes through it. It's what I call "led blue" because it is the same color as blue led when lit up . Getting them cut is problematic . I trust the cutter but not the mail or parcel services...soon. one way or another this and it's friends will be meet point faceted with extremely high final polish. How long did it take to learn to be able to replicate famous diamonds accurately?

I mean... it does though? A diamond has a refractive index of 2.4, so light travels through it at 125000 kps instead of 300000 kps through vacuum. Thing is, everything but vacuum slows light down a little, it's just that most of what humans care about otherwise is air, and the index of refraction for that is 1.0003, so not much different than vacuum (and our basis of comparison, anyways).

He casts the original in resin, then uses the cast to measure the angles of the facets, then facets a replica out of CZ or similar.
