Shouldn’t you have mentioned that half of those who die honorable will go to Folkvangr instead of Valhalla?

Late to this but, Jacob Grimm coined the term Wilde Jagde(sp) the Wild Hunt. But stories describing things of this sort are common in Europe. One of the earliest from the 11th century comes from Burchard of Worms who describes a gaggle of witches on the ride essentially doing mischief and as portents of death. There are many types of pack riders too, the Yuleride being a similar type of folk tale.

Where is this info from? As far as I have been aware those who go to Helhiem in death are those who died of old age, sickness or who did not die in battle

The stories of the wild hunt can be found all over Europe. There are stories from the Nordic countries, Germany, UK and also Eastern Europe. I think most of it is based on old oral traditions that were recorded and written down from the 1800’s onwards.

@@ladythalia227 Thanks Marianne. :) I've read a lot about the Wild Hunt but I've never run across this particular story. By the way, a whole book has been written on this subject. It's called "Phantom Armies of the Night".
