How the Son of a Pro Arm Wrestler Became One of the Best Division II Quarterbacks of All-Time

Спорт

Even in a draft class of compelling prospects, Tyson Bagent has a unique underdog story. He’s attempting to make the NFL leap from Division II Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia… and while it might seem like a long shot, his journey to get to this point has a certain feeling of destiny.

Exactly. And most of the time parents that say that just want to believe it, but it never ends up working out because their children are not talented enough so at least Travis had a child that is talented enough to make it pro. He has been saying it forever lol.

It is so freaking cool you guys are talking about this because I have followed Travis career for many years. He is my favorite arm wrestler. He pretty much stepped away for a long time to get his son prepared for the NFL. He has done a fantastic job, helping his son, and as a father I have nothing but respect for that.

Put him in! He showed competence and poise in the pre-season. He showed he can make the throws and reads. Fields is proving he can't read the field . What F'n story it would be if this DII quarterback can come in , and be the prayer us Bears fans been waiting for. We're talkin about 1 of the most historic clubs, who haven't had a superstar , or even pro bowl caliber QB since ........almost never.

So different seeing him grown up. I seen Tyson a few times when he was around 10 years old, might had been younger when his dad owned the crossfit 304 gym there in Charlestown wv. I lived there and worked at Gold gym, which is where I met Travis and Casey. Both awesome people. I got into Crossfit and got certified myself. Wonderful sport thats for sure. I always knew Tyson would be something extra special in life. With his dad as his motivator. Because Travis has that over whelming confidence that you need in life to give you that edge over everyone else.

People don't understand genetics is arguably the most important factor in group and individual differences, especially in sports. Great athletes tend to birth great athletes , and not necessarily for the same sport. Tyson isn't particularly well muscled like his father, but he's a great QB with a gifted arm. Also weird fun fact as a Black guy interested in trivia and human genetics : in the history of football blue-eyed QBs generally outplay brown eyed ones. According to studies, they also make better snipers in combat and have higher visual acuity. This is likely the same expressed phenotype, and assists in the QB as a back field general.

Whenever you talk about GOATs you have to look at what they accomplished in their era. It’s never a discussion about who’s the best right now, or even who would win when they were both in their prime because the sport is never the same and always evolves and changes. He believes he’s the best but admits most people would put him in the top three. Realistically, he would probably be most people’s top five. It’s subjective though, not everyone agrees.

I am not a professional football analyst but I am a Bears fan and I believe this guy has a lot of traits to be successful. One thing that bugs me though is how often it appears that he is not using his legs to drive the ball and he does a lot of fadeaway throws and throws where his feet are close together and they are almost all arm. I think the "lacking arm strength" narrative around him can be reversed if he incorporates his legs more. Obviously it's in his genes and they say he graded well on pure arm strength, but to be subbed for a hail mary and to have his longest throws come up so short - there is defeinitely work to be done to refine his game physically. I think mentally he might be the best QB we've had since Orton (lol I'm serious). It's refreshing to have a guy who can read the field pre-snap and get his guys in place and know where the hot is and know how to use his eyes to look-off defenders and create passing lanes. But if he can't hit the intermediate and deep throws defenses are going to bottle him up.
