How the Second Crusade Failed the West - Pixel History

In a previous episode of Pixel History, we covered the Christian success of the First Crusade and the founding of the four crusader states. What seemed like a great victory for the Christians would soon turn out to be but a brief taste of victory in the east, however. In a land rife with enemies, the European invaders quickly found that they might have bit off more than they could chew and it would prove an incredible challenge to maintain their hold on each of the four crusader states.

Hope I'll get around to some in between my future videos as a side project if nothing else. They're a fun creative process, so I won't give up on them entirely just yet. Thanks as always for the support!

Loved it. A history of the Astur-Cantabrian Wars- a series of protracted campaigns fought between Rome’s most capable legions and a coalition of Hispania’s last powerful/sovereign/unconquered Celtiberian tribes - would be absolutely brilliant. Very little quality content in the English language exists in regard to what was, in many ways, the first major challenge to Augusts’ imperial project. Interestingly enough, the battles of these wars were fought in the same foreboding highland territories of Northern/Atlantic Costal Spain [long renown for their belligerent guerrillas, strange Celtic/pagan traditions, and sociocultural emphasis on liberty, equity and self-determination that persists to this day] where the resurrected Gothic army of Don Pelayo would, generations later, successfully decimate the advancing armies of the invading Muslim first battle of the Reconquista. (Both stories actually compliment one another in a way, as they serve as palpable examples of what’s at steak when challenging such hegemonic/imperial adversaries.

Great suggestion! I'll be sure to add it to my list should I get around to more Pixel History-like videos in the future. Antiquity is one of my favourite subjects (studied it, after all), so I definitely hope to revisit it a bit more often. And the more subjects that haven't already been covered by an umpteen amount of channels, the better! Thanks for the suggestion!

It took a while for me to find a style that suited me and to get into the flow of things as well, so good luck with designing your own flavour of it! I've found that even if it takes a little longer to make a video, it's worth the extra effort if it means having a consistent style that stands out a bit from the rest that is also visually pleasing for the eye. Still can't say all of my work fits all of those marks just yet either, but it's something worth striving for! I'll make sure to keep an eye on your channel as well! Perhaps we can even cross paths one day! :D

Not French, but close enough! I've had it pointed out to me a couple of times, but that was after I recorded this video a while back. I will try to be a bit more mindful of it in future videos for the sake of people's ears and sanity!
