How The Royals & The Public Reacted To Princess Diana's Death | Royal Secrets | Real Royalty

The Royal Family is one of the oldest monarchy's on earth. Elizabeth II, has ruled longer than any other British Queen, keeping the monarchy alive. But when Princess Diana died tragically in 1997, it was the reaction, or rather a lack of reaction from the royal family that took centre stage.
From Elizabeth II to Cleopatra, Real Royalty peels back the curtain to give a glimpse into the lives of some of the most influential families in the world, with new full length documentaries posted every week covering the monarchies of today and all throughout history.

True that every second counts and that they should have called an ambulance right away... but I doubt it would have made much difference in the end. She wasn't wearing her seat belt and they had to restart her heart in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. That's why it took so long to get there. When they did get there and doctors were able to look into her chest via scans, they found that her heart was in the right side of her chest and that her pulmonary vein and the pericardium were torn open. She flatlined around 3 am and they tried to revive her until 4 am when she was pronounced dead.

@Glen Aye, I saw that in the Witnesses in the Tunnel documentary about the crash and aftermath with the arrests. The doctor said that he didn't recognise her at first and thought she had a broken arm and a head injury but wasn't sure about her internal injuries. My point was, with the injuries to her heart, even as quickly as an ambulance would arrived, she most likely would have died anyway. Still, they shouldn't have been taking photos...

I disagree: Diana was all 'pettiness' - that was one of her major faults. She gossiped and believed gossip. She accused several of her husband's female staff of having an affair with Charles while at the same time she was 'entertaining' stay-over men at Kensington Palace. Diana could never see her own faults, 'problems' were always caused by someone else - a character trait we're currently seeing in Harry.

The Queen Mother did not kill Diana, are you kidding? There is an attack now against the Royals. Probably that deep vein people have been clueless about across the globe engrained deeply, secretly behind the scenes for 60+ years did it for some unknown reason. Probably to upset the apple cart, cause division and negativity against the Crown? People love the Queen Mother and the Royals service to the people of England. We love William and Catherine too. I also remember telling my husband that I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t an “accident”. To put it in easy words, Diana was a thorn in all of the Royal family’s side, but mostly Charles’ side. I said that it’s going to be very convenient for Charles now. Without the British people’s love & loyalty to Diana, he can now openly in public be with his mistress. And that’s exactly what happened. Camilla getting the title of “Queen” is exactly what Charles wanted and got. So I’m not so sure I would call Diana’s manner of death an “accident”.

So what you're saying is that a beautiful woman is more important than one without the looks? Diana was far too young for Charles. They had no subjects of conversation in common. Charles had been in love with Camilla in the early 1970s and wasn't allowed to marry her because she didn't meet the standards. A great personality and having in plenty in common are factors which lead to a successful marriage - not merely beauty.

I totally understand what she meant when she stated "There are 3 of us in this marriage". She was hurt, & angry & her rival was at the church on their wedding day. Diana was not happy. No the queen is still the queen in every way. I’m sorry but I have never seen Diana as an innocent victim in all this I see her as a flawed human as we all are . First I am sure it was common knowledge at that time that the royals were a very formal and stiiff upper lip kind of folks . Even Diana at 18 should have been aware of this and therefore that they were totally opposites of who she was . Diana was a very emotional and open soul who despite insisting otherwise loved the spot light . She needed attention and and she needed to openly loved . She desperately sought constant validation. There is nothing wrong with that but this was never going to be openly given by her husband or her inlaws. As far too many women try and fail to do I think Diana thought she could change them and quickly found out she couldn’t . Next …the day she was to be married she knew Charles was still in love with Camilla she caught them kissing and I believe he was wearing cuff links Camilla gifted him . Any rational sane woman would have said Im out . But she CHOSE to walk down the aisle anyways in the foolish pursuit of the fairy tale ending . I can’t bring myself to blame either Charles or Camilla . They have been soulmates from the start and should have been allowed to marry . It’s ridiculous to expect a man who was truly in love to stop just because he was being forced by duty to marry another woman . I feel sorry for Dianna she should have been free to marry a man who would love her the way she deserved but Charles’ heart belonged to someone else . I don’t condone cheating but in some cases I understand why it happened . Diana had her own multiple affairs as well. People are so willing to excuse those but not Charles’ with ONE woman. Diana threw tantrums when she couldn’t get the attention she craved and even tried to throw herself down stairs one time . She would try to openly meet with the queen without prior arrangements just like every other family member had to do . The Queen did the best she could but she had no idea how to handle someone like Diana. I don’t blame Elizabeth she was raised to never wear your emotions on her sleeve. Also Diana complained constantly about the constant hounding of the paparazzi yet it has been proven she would often tip them off to where she was . Also when that tell all book came out she point blank lied and said she she hasn’t given interviews and now we know she did . The only good things to come out of this disasterous marriage were the boys and the people Diana helped through her charitable work

I may be unpopular in saying this, but I do feel that at the time Her Majesty having decreed that Diana was no longer "Royal", believed that no official reaction was necessary. I am honestly of the opinion that it was ex. P.M. Tony Blair who went to Her Majesty and pointed out that her subjects were dictating for once what was needed, instead of blindly accepting what the monarchy decreed, one of the few positive things he did do. There is no doubt in my mind that once the divorce was decided upon, Her Majesty simply largely removed Diana from her mind to a huge extent. Both she and Charles had committed the arch offence of putting personal happiness before "Duty". I still feel that removing Diana's "H.R.H" title was a petty yet serious error of judgement, as she was after all mother of a future King, surely that alone was enough to warrant the "H.R.H" prefix..? Protecting Princes William and Harry was a "plausible"(?) yet futile excuse for remaining at Balmoral, as the Princes would have to deal with the devastating loss of their mother sooner or later.. I will never forget the expression on Her Majesty's face when she and the family viewed the floral tributes at the gates of their Scottish enclave. It was Not grief, it Was Anger, a thinly disguised rage that she was no longer in control.. To me it was a pivotal moment for the monarchy to have to accept that they must heed the will of the people. It was Not at the time a realisation that Her Majesty accepted willingly, that it was the people who held the power and Not The Monarch..!

Yes, spot on Mr Baldwin. The Queen looked indignant and cross at having to give that broadcast and tribute to Diana. You are correct in all you say. Sometimes the truth is hard to accept. The Queen returned to London simply because Tony Blair told her she would lose her throne if she did not. She even resisted giving Diana a state funeral and said that since she was no longer a member of the royal family, she was not entitled to one, that the Spencer's should be the ones to bury her. Charles threatened to make her decision public and she relented. Also she did not want Charles to fly to Paris to take her remains back to England but he did it anyway. In her TV speech talking about Diana, she did not say the word "Love" one time. She is not the sweet little old lady which is the general opinion. Many people did not know that during the last few years of Prince Phillip's life they. lived apart. He had moved to a house on the grounds of Sandringham, Wood Farm and was experimenting in growing truffles. They reunited when it became necessary to move to Windsor Castle because of the pandemic It was shown that they did not share a bed when years ago a young invader entered her bedroom at Buckingham Palace and she was alone. He sat on the bed and talked to her. It was only when she told him that she would call for cigarettes which he allowed her to do that she got help. When the telephone operator got the request he knew something was wrong because she did not smoke. Then her security came. Phillip was unaware of the situation because he was in his own quarters. The truth is the truth. The flag on Buckingham Palace had only been lowered once before. That was on the occasion of Winston Churchill's death. The public again insisted it be lowered. It is only up when the Queen is in residence. So it was put up to the top of the staff when she arrived, to signify the Queen was in residence, and immediately lowered to half-staff in honor of Diana. The Queen is said to be very Ill with leukemia and that she suffered a minor stroke before she was admitted to hospital overnight a couple of weeks ago. It is the royal tradition to obfuscate. Queen Mary arranged that her dying husband be given a lethal dose of morphine timed to have his death announced in the "respectable" morning newspapers. People here won't like this and I don't care. The truth is more important to me than false worship of a human being or pleasing strangers.

Interestingly, The Romanov couple that were murdered were a true love match and the King and Queen were so happy and busy being a happy family together, away from Court, that ppl were able plot their demise. They were also preoccupied with their sickly only male heir, too. Weird how things turn out sometimes.

Diana is gone but will never be forgotten. In my eyes she is the Queen. I wish Queen Elizabeth had helped her as she was only 19, not experienced, only wanted to be loved. Why is it acceptable for Charles to run around with a married woman & used Diana only to produce Heir & a Spare. We all know what happened to her. I still get emotional when I think of Diana.

I'm watching this video after Queen Elizabeth has passed away now. When I see Charles it really is so upsetting because he is not who he wants the world to beleive he is. He wants a one world government and that to me is the biggest thing I have against him along with the fact that he has always been a snake in the grass. He is not trustworthy and I just don't think he is king material. I beleive he played a roll in Diana's death but that will never be told except by the power of our God and our savior Jesus Christ!!!

@@belindamay8063 Protecting them from the hideous, violent and over emotional crowds in London. How could two young children deal with that immediately? They needed some time away from that chaos to deal with their own grief. Very selfish crowds - thinking only of themselves and their feelings and not giving a stuff about Diana's young sons. The Queen arrived in London when she felt the boys were as ready as they were going to be. If she took them to church, we only knew because the area around Balmoral was overcrowded with paparazzi. A pity they couldn't have been herded away. They were, after all, a large factor in the death of Diana and they still didn't get it.

The queues to sign the condolence book at the British Embassy went around the blocks. Indonesia is a republic and not a member of the Commonwealth and yet people cried when Diana died. This will not happen when the Queen or even Prince Charles dies. Diana was indeed the queen of people's hearts and not just the British people - because people felt she genuinely cared. She was not just doing her duty. Only Prince Philip genuinely liked her and was probably really sad when Diana died but then he understood a great deal more about the world than the rest of the royals.

Is it permissible to speak the truth now, or must people still pretend that things WERE the way they WEREN'T? Diana may have been dating Dodi Fayed, but she wasn't in love with him. She was either in love with Hasnat Khan or she never did know what true love was. Diana was with Dodi to make Khan jealous and try to force his hand. There was more than enough blame to go around, for why a marriage that never should have been in the first place, ended so badly. Charles never should have been forced to marry out of duty, not love, and all of the cards should have been laid out on the table for Diana. She was far too young to be expected to agree to the role of the "virginal mare" to bear the heir and spare, especially if that meant being a "long suffering" wife, looking the other way because her husband's heart belonged to another woman. Why didn't the Queen react? She didn't react because she was RELIEVED, and didn't want the people of the Commonwealth to realize that.

I don't care what anyone says but I believe that Harry knows the truth about what happened to his Mother and William knows too. He can't say anything because William's going to be King one day. This is why he got his wife out of there. Harry's too much like his Mom and everyone gives him a hard time, but I truly believe he knows the truth! I would bet everything that one day in the future it will all come out, one way or another. James Andanson supposedly committed suicide by setting himself on fire three years after Diana's death. Sorry guys but that's one of the most painful ways to commit suicide in your car. BS! People said he was depressed and riddled with guilt. Why? They were afraid he was going to talk. He had been following Diana for weeks and he supposedly was driving that Fiat Uno which clipped Diana's Mercedes seconds before it crashed, part of a complicated assassination plot. He worked for M16 and French Agencies. However, he was never interviewed by authorities. It took 3 months before DNA and dental records could confirm his identity. However, as they took his body out, a fireman on the scene, Mr. Pelet, saw that he had 2 bullet holes in Andanson's head. According to sources, he believes that Diana was murdered by the British Security Services because the British Royal didn't want Diana having a Muslim baby. So, do you really think her boys didn't look into her death? Why their Mother was embalmed in France? Why it took them so long to get her to the hospital?
