Oxshott is a suburban village in the borough of Elmbridge in Surrey, England. Oxshott includes hilly acidic heath which is partly wooded (see Esher Commons and Prince's Coverts) and occupies the land between the geographically large towns of Esher and Leatherhead. The Oxshott section of the single carriageway north-south A244 runs through its middle and briefly forms its high street, centred two miles (three kilometres) from the A3 (Portsmouth Road) and the M25 (London Orbital motorway). A survey in 2010 by the Daily Telegraph asserted it was "the village with most footballers" in England and mentioned other celebrities who chose to live in the village - Chelsea F.C. have their main training ground in Stoke D'Abernon, which, together with Oxshott, makes up an electoral ward of Surrey County Council.
A great many of Oxshott's residential areas are on private roads, gated off and inaccessible to the general public. This, combined with the large and desirable properties that form much of the village's housing stock, contributes to Oxshott's status as the "most expensive village in England"

So why does a guy who lives in a very well appointed house want to drive round in a flash Mercedes to check out the homes of the "rich"? In any case, what a dump. It would be like living in a maze. There are typical UK narrow roads, barely wide enough for two cars and everyone is walled in with a huge hedge. As the good book states, "Sweet is the sleep of the labourer while the rich man worries over his surfeit",

Can't hear bugger all either.. Oh and Mercs are not flash.. They're total rubbish. Tin cans and cardboard. I used to work at Halfpenny's garage near Ascot. spent a lot of time around BMW's Audi etc.. all over priced junk.

@@real-eyes-realise-real-lies :) I've got a 1992 saab 9000 133,000 miles, a 2005 saab 9-5 aero 178,000 miles and a 2006 volvo s60 92,000 miles. That said, I really miss my 1978 Triumph TR7, oh and my 1966 series 2a swb land rover, had a 3.0ltr V6 essex engine in it. Had an Opel Manta at one point. Nice car, needed more powerful engine though.

@@truthmatters4090 nice collection! Love the 9-5 Aero and my dad had a T6 S80 i used to practice driving in. Out of interest then, why the hate on Mercs? I ask because a have a 2 year old CLS and its lovely. Touch wood, ive had no issues with it neither, other than 20" wheels getting buckled on crappy roads, which is to be expected.

@@real-eyes-realise-real-lies Having taken a few apart over the years, the materials felt inferior. In particular, interior trim/seats and certain body panels (which usually feel and sound relly thin) Door cards remind me of the type of quality you'd get in a rover metro.. Also, there's the "brand" name. Merc has a history to it (over 100 years) and they play on this with the pricing of the cars. A bit like buying Kellogs corn flakes and then finding out what Mr. Kellog was really like.. If I had to buy either a Merc or something else, it'd probably be a Kawasaki z1000 :)
