Sorin just a little correction the intel graphics does not come from the chipset, its embedded on the cpu package. Om very very old systems the intel graphics was on the chipset, like core 2 old

06:20 Chipset manages the flow of data between components on a motherboard. It's the traffic controller between the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and peripherals. When the laptop is not at heavy usage, doing some simple stuffs laptops are using integrated gpu which are build in cpu,for example for intel cpu: some inte uhd and Intel Iris Xe Graphics for amd some Vega graphics.Ryzen laptop user can find that easy, when you open device manager, open cpu list its say for me: AMD Ryzen 7 3750H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx. When you start heavy task like game it switch the gpu using from cpu to your stronger gpu. If you like using always your stronger grapics u can set it in windows. Overall there will be nothing wrong if the manufacturers will glue some heatsink on the chipsets, but i think they not doing that because the chip itself should not heating mouch.

The PCH got that name because the north bridge is now on the CPU. Data flow between CPU/RAM/dGPU no longer pass through the chipset. Only south bridge stuff like peripherals exist on the PCH-

@6:30 the picture is generated by the CPU, not chipset. Chipset can only switch the source, and the rest is done on the software side of things. These chipsets have zero display capability by themselves.

I have 4 Acer Nitro's all with dead chipsets. Just got a BGA rework machine. Going to try replacing the chipsets and see what happens. Hope I can bring them back to life. Always wondered why some laptops had heat sinks on the PCH and others don't guess just cost savings for the manufacturer. Going to stick some heatsinks from Amazon on these if they work after their heart transplants.

brother, I need your help, I have an imac a1419 (2014) that drives me crazy, it does not provide audio, the strange thing is that it does provide audio when the machine starts, once the system starts, it does not do so, it does not detect any device, except one that says digital output, I have already ruled out the system, I already changed the headphone jack, I measured if voltage was reaching the codec, and if it did, (just in case I replaced it) and the problem continues, I no longer know what to do, thanks in advance .

Laptops with RTX GPUs aren't really that expensive any more, as Nvidia has discontinued the GTX line and even lower end GPUs are now part of the RTX brand. There also used to be a low-end MX line, but it seems Nvidia has discontinued that one too.

  • @marksutherland774

You could find an old cup heatsink from a modern laptop cut to size and then connect it to the primary heaksink via soldering. Obviously checking clearances from other components. It is extreme but would work. Thermal pads may do a decent enough job. Most modern laptops are crap anyway, poor design cheap parts, you'll get an original alienware still going strong today, you won't be saying in a couple of years about the latest gaming laptops.

It doesnt have to do with the "PEG", it has to do with IDG, perhaps youre confusing with MUX switches and optimus. In that case if optimus runs everything passes form IDG. IF autoselect PEG is "wired" directly "bypassing" IDG. Thats why you get performance boosts with Optimus off, or if you got better laptop Advanced optimus. If im correct.

"Gaming" laptops often fall short fall short of true gaming capabilities, resembling knockoff versions of desktops rather than genuine gaming machines. note that aside, with Moore's Law nearing its physical limit, planned obsolescence has become a prevailing concern. mounting a small cooling thermal pad or heat sink into the PCH could have significantly extended them prematurely broken laptop's lifespan, yet such measures seem absent in today's market, falling below satisfactory standards. a scummy behavior if you asked me.

Gaming laptops are nice, but you got to get a good one and no skimping on budget, and you have to clean them yearly. Got a 2006,2009,2016, and a 2021 laptop still kicking. Gigabyte, never EVER touch that brand, they hate their customers, rejected all my rmas, horrible costumer service, and flat out told me to go buy a different product. You can find a page on where they never sent back a dudes gpu. They may of been good in the past but are scummy today, I'm surprised they are still around. I can't vouch for alienware ether, they had a horrible dell start, then got good in 2010s, but then as of now all products are a possible hit and miss. TLDR you got to research before you buy no.
