How The Military Would Divide During A Civil War

If the United States were to find itself in a second civil war between republicans and democrats, conservatives and liberals, right-wing and left-wing, the federal military would almost certainly find itself divided between not just political factions, but also regional loyalties, as certain states in rebellion may come under heavy attack by the federal government. A 2nd American civil war would not be so clean cut, and prove very factionally messy regardless of what factions emerge.

@@Julian-tf5rb I am a (former) Portlander. The popation of my former home is just over half a million now. Since 2000, on average, 10k Californians have moved into MY city, driving up property taxes, housing costs, and worse, they brought their politics with them. That means that almost a third to a half of my city is now little more than an outpost of California, and the rest of the northern I-5 corridor has suffered the same. Last place I worked, only THREE out of 50 were actually Oregonians. The rest were even an even split between foreigners and Californians. I trust the expats far more than those who by right I should call my own countrymen by their actions and behavior alone. Everything from Californians having a bad reputation of lacking personal responsibilty and accountability, their almost slavish acceptence of government "mandates' and refusal to do anything even remotely close introspection. Before someone tries to slam me with a Whataboutism, most of the Oregonians, properly raised Oregonians, that I have known from big city to small town lack those foibles; sure, there are always going to be some, but they pale in comparrison to the Californians who have sucked the soul out of my city and ruined my state.

Those who would still serve under them would be the socially regressive types so they can be easily spooked into distrust, making them unorganized. Looking at everywhere they shouldn’t. Each individual would have to make the choice, if a soldier does not believe he will defect at the first chance he gets, even if that means sprinting across the battlefield with his hands up. Absolutely nobody will just "go along" with anything in a civil war. Again the Russo-Ukrainian war shows us this is just as true today as it was 100 years ago. Be it defectors to Ukraine or defectors to Russia. Foreign volunteers will be available to whatever factions that provide the opportunity to them, the reason Russia has "non" and Ukraine has over 20K is that Ukraine made a unit in the military for foreigners with English as command-language. Russia on the other hand has no rules that prevent foreigners from joining *BUT* there is no centralized foreign unit, Russian is the command language but Russia has created several PMC's, tho this is actually worse for foreigners as joining a PMC is a crime in several nations and would mean that the volunteer not only joins for the fight but they must leave everything behind, obviously this makes it easier to join Ukraine where you can come and go as you like with flexible contracts.

Facts. Inner cities I’ll be mostly black and dependent on the government for support. Outer rural areas will be more white people that are more self sufficient. Unfortunately, black people are on too many crutches to stand for themselves. Mexicans would be the other opposing race that may want to engage in such a conflict. Now they are still prone to diversity government assistance. It may not be a topic spoken on any media platform as much as the black population but they do get all those crutches for being a minority. White people had to do with very little for the past 60 years so that naturally forced most white people to be self sufficient and less dependent on the government that actively rejects them. The only places where they wouldn’t do too hot is areas along the coasts of the nation. Inner central states will be just fine. Systematically, white people do have the higher chance of taking advantage of cutting off resources to dense cities and just starve the races out. It could possibly be done with little physical engagement.

I think the majority would side with the government. If that government is the left wing faction in the war it's likely to see more defections than a rightwing faction, and the lead up would be critical however.

This unlike it's 1861 cousin would be a political not geography civil war. And Very few Military members from blue states would actually side with the woke mob as they're largely made up of centrists/conservatives. Hell, even blue state national guard units are largely if not overwhelmingly made up of centrists/conservatives. Add to that all the people that have guns. I've heard A LOT of videos like this one trying to do mental gymnastics to keep blue states blue. I'm sorry but the hard core members of the left wouldn't be overwhelmed by those of the center/right. They'd be MASSIVELY overwhelmed. And lose within a matter of months if not weeks. Furthermore the left would have good cause to seek terms ASAP as at the (boiling ) point of civil war the right would not be in a forgiving, let bygones be bygones kind of mood. And any pointless resistance causing more deaths on their side would only serve to harden (and darken) that mood.
