The Ford GT is an example of what happens when a car company with a big name and deep pockets decides it's going racing. The Ford GT is a race car for the street if there ever was one. This car was built to win races, and it did.
In January of 2016, Ford Chip Ganassi Racing entered two new Ford GTs into the 24 Hours of Daytona. This was the debut race for the new cars. They finished seventh and ninth. Just a few months later the Number 68 Ford GT of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing finished in 1st at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMGTE Pro class.
