How the Death of One Senator Changed the Course of Galactic History

Ойын-сауық

Perhaps we give Palpatine too much credit for successfully ending the Galactic Republic and the Jedi. Maybe the Sith were just opportunist who fed on the chaos and destructive tendencies that already existed in the galaxy.

It was clear that while Palpatine valued building Anakin toward being his apprentice and using his feelings for Padme...he absolutely found Padme to be a big thorn in his side, and she most certainly had a target on her back, and Palpatine was probably happy she died (if he didn't help nudge that along through sith magic). Sadly while she made efforts to do the right thing, she just like the Jedi was blind to the actual threat and often only accidentally hindered or slowed Sidious's plans... at least in the short term.

Another simple and completely avoidable event that occurred in Season 3 of the Clone Wars and greatly affected galactic history would be Palpatine ordering Dooku to kill Ventress. The fallout of this event radically changed the histories of Dathomir, Mandalore, the criminal under world, the Clone Wars as a whole, and likely even the Rebellion. And Palpatine could have just, like, not told him to kill her.

@@lerneanlion Maybe, I got the read that Mandalore was toward the top of Sidious's hit list and he was trying hard to engineer an excuse for the Republic to occupy it so they had it secure when they switched to the Empire. He figured...rightly, that Mandalore being in active play could not be allowed if he wanted his Empire stable given the Mandalorian people's history with both Jedi and Sith. It's why he triggered his endgame after he had invaded Mandalore...I'd almost argue he was waiting for an excuse to invade it before he was ready to kick off Order 66 since he had nearly everything else in place and ready by then. Maul just happened to drop the perfect reason into his lap.

Like you said, humans are a highly social creature. And we are very selfish as well. Because as social creatures our own survival still takes precedence (selfish act of self preservation), and our social group help to keep us alive (again preserving the self). So the most selfish thing somebody can do is to be social creature, help your neighbors, be kind, be considerate, be tolerant. As a healthy, successful group helps to keep us alive, being social is the most selfish thing somebody can do. Just a positive by product is that it helps others which makes them more likely to help you. Therefore, the most selfish thing you can do.

I wouldn’t say Umbara was a useless battle to fight. It definitely could have been avoided, but in the end taking the planet was necessary for the war effort. It was needed for the Republic have access to major planets in that area like Kashyyyk. Regardless of how it happened, if the Umbarans seceded the battle of Umbara would have occurred.

Sadly the part about the politicians in the Republic being just ordinary citizens is flawed. Perhaps in the days of the Old Republic they would have been normal people, but by the time of the Clone Wars, most the senators were notoriously corrupt and even some senators were representatives of big businesses that became involved in government. For example, Lott Dod of the Trade Federation and all the representatives of the other major companies n the Confederacy Of Independent Systems like the Corporate Alliance, the Techno Union, the Commerce Guild, and of course the Inter Galactic Banking Clan or IGBC. All of them had bought seats in the Senate instead of earning them. And then there are those Senators who care only about their own world and not the worlds around them.

Not all politicians are bad, it's the career politicians that you need to avoid, why do you think Trump gets so much hate from career politicians he's not one of them when he said he wants the war in Ukraine to stop because people are dying for no reason Russian and Ukrainians they flipped out on him.

7:37 cynism, anarchy and authoritarianism are some of the most tools of the Sith, too. Sheev Palpatine demostrated that using them to destroy the misguided, incompetent and dogmatic Jedi. Yet now you hope to inspire us to fight against these forces when you've built a catalog of praising those who would use such tactics? What changed? Jedi beaten to the point they're useless and ineffective to your channel? Might as well start getting some Beskar and start chanting "This is the way". 10:15 Oh, like the Jedi did when they surrendered to the Senate after the Sith wars in order to keep that hard earned peace?? But hey, were not in the business of defending the Jedi are we? And at this point....Who cares?

I think the Republic politics was a little more difficult. In real life domestic politics the stakes can be life and death, but ultimately survival isnt on the line per se. In Star Wars, a Senator represents the survival of an entire species. It's one thing for a people to choose to allow some die for other to love but survival of the Republic would ultimately see the extinction of species to save the Republic. Ultimately I think the Republic is too large and too unsustainable. I respect what you're saying. At the same time in domestic politics, you have one side fostering human rights, compassion and the other espousing hatred murder and death. They're not the same. The right is filled with terrible people and radicals

It's funny how you can be good at Star Wars politics yet so wrong at Real World politics. For someone who talks about questioning everything, you seem very embroiled when it comes to trusting Western Propaganda. It's sad really.

The perception of the political system as being inhabited by people who are simply out for themselves is the least of our problems. The far more critical issue is the growing perception among the racial majority that the institutions of civil society are hostile to their people on a racial level. Unfortunately the current political culture allows little space for the peaceful redress of that racial group’s grievances. It is an issue we simply aren’t allowed to discuss, hence my own very careful language here.

Generation Tech, you’re not a political expert, you haven’t referenced or appear to have done any research on real life politics, yet you’re acting like you know how politics works and that you know more than the average person, so maybe you should make it more clear to your audience that everything you’re saying and claiming about politics and human nature is “like you know, just your opinion man”.

@@mikebaker3712 Opinions are fine. Everyone has one, but your Star Wars KZreadr is not an expert on politics and it also looks like he hasn’t done any relevant credible research on a complicated topic like real-life politics, yet he has continued to portray himself like he is an expert on politics for some reason on several occasions. This is not an isolated incident, so I’d argue that doing this is a problem and unethical since he has a platform and is likely spreading misinformation. Maybe don’t act like a sore fanboy when your beloved KZreadr is not actually an expert on everything. It would be better and more ethical for him to not talk on subjects he knows little to nothing about or appears to have done no actual research on.
