How The Curtain Fell On Mizo Insurgency

NEW DELHI: Thirty five years after it was signed, Mizo Accord remains the most successful political accord signed between the Government of India and an insurgent group. Mizoram, known in the 1960s as Lushai Hills district, was part of undivided Assam. At the heart of the trouble was a famine caused by rodents and made worse by the state government’s inaction. As the problem festered, the Centre ordered the air force to bomb Aizawl and nearby areas, the only such instance to date. In this episode of ‘Simply Nitin’, StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale looks back at how it all began and ended.

The reason was not only rat floods and famine. Another reason was also to gain our dignity. The Assam look down on us. The reason why the MNA also surrendered was only due to the request of the students and churches.

MNA was never surrendered, Peace accord ' Memorandum of Settlement ' (it is remarked as the most and only successful peace agreement in India after it's independent from British in 1947) was signed between MNF and Gov't of India, it was signed by Ladenga for MNF and RD Pradhan, Home secretary, Gov't of India. Mizoram is the only State who didn't raise the white flag against India Government, check your facts right before comment your History brother

Remember what Congress done in 1966... The Congress led by a cruel and tyrant ruler Indira Gandhi ordered the Airforce to begin Operation Bombing on claim land and people of Mizoram. On the first parliament session after the operation,Indira Gandhi said to the house that "We don't drop bomb,We drop ration".Immediately,Nicolas Roy who was the then Meghalaya MP opposed and showed the broken dropped bomb to the house angrily and he asked Indira Gandhi, "Is it this bomb is eatable? Is it this is what you can do to your people? Is it this ration is your meal that you used to eat"? After the Air Operation has done successfully,Many innocent Mizo people were die, towns were completely demolished and a great famine started. Continously,Indira Gandhi deployed Army and started Military Operation in a poor Mizoram with mercilessly and ruled over 20 years with military power. It was unforgettable and living scar for Mizo forever. Congress Party has no right at all to say about Democracy!!

As a Mizo I say he was not a good politicians. He fooled his companions and betrayed them. If you ask any literate person in Mizoram if Laldenga was a good guy or not, 'The answer will be no'. Why? Ans: Because of him, many Mizo youths who gave lives for us has been wasted. Now many Mizo hate him.

@@Huang_Teh.there was nothing called Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and many more prior to Independence. There were Princely states, Presidencies. Mizoram was Lushai Hills, the people were Lushai/Lusei and that's where the name came from. Lushai Hills was divided into two by the British; North and South Lushai Hills. North Lushai Hills was under the administration of Assam and South Lushai Hills under Bengal till 1898. Later it was merged and was under the administration of Superintendents, mainly from the Indian Civil Service. Post independence, it was demarcated as one of Assam district, whom they had no contact of prior to colonization. Lushai Hills was annexed in 1890 by the British. I don't know what you're on about but it looks like you need to be a bit enlightened about the history for you to have a gist.

Mizoram(Lushai Hills) was and is to be an Independent nation after the Decolonisation of the British Empire. But was forcefully and wrongly occupied by India after India got its independence. Lushai Hills (Mizoram) was and is never an integral part of India. It was an 'Excluded Area' governed by the British Governors and the Chin-Kuki-Mizo Chiefs. The Lusei Chiefs from the Sailo clan were the most respected Chiefs of the Lushai Hills and they are called the 'Principal Chiefs' who often used to have meetings with the Governors and no decision is used to be made without the 'assent' grant or gave from them. Lushai Hills was never a part of the Bengal Empire nor under the Bengal Constitution or even a part of Assam. It was included in the Bengal Province starting from 1890s only because the Britishers wants to have a good governance on us Mizo people but was never counted 'Included Area' as a part of India nor as a part of Bengal or Assam as it is counted as an 'Excluded Area' by the Britishers. Even our past governors Mr L.L Peters, ICS, and Mr Mac Donald, ICS, said it and written it clearly, 'The people living in Lushai Hills are the Zo people and the Lushai Hills only belongs to them'. In 1947, when India got it's independence, Lushai Hills was continued to be governed by the British Governors Mr LL Peters, ICS, 1945-1947 and Mr Mac Donald, ICS, 1947-1949. In 1947, the only thing the former British Prime Minister Mr Clement Attlee said is this, '' I hereby declare that from August 15,1947,India got its independence''. Therefore the included areas will join the Indian Union. He doesn't even a mentioned a single thing about the 'Excluded Areas' will directly be added as 'Included Areas' or doesn't even make any notifications the Excluded Areas to join the Indian Union. For Excluded Areas will always be 'Excluded Areas' and the Indian government doesn't have any notifications to make and doesn't even have the right to make that Notification for the 'Excluded Areas' to change it as 'Included Areas'. Even till this day it doesn't even have. Even till this day Lushai Hills(Mizoram) still remains an Excluded Area and the fact doesn't change. King George VI, Buckingham Palace Court, London, definition about the Excluded Areas,''Government of India act 1935 clause-1: '' The Excluded Areas are not British India, nor they are British Burma''. Know this Indians, we Mizo will never be Indians nor we will never accept this wrong deeds. YHWH is going to free us.
