Jacque Vaughn has really transformed the team from the hell hole that nash had them in, when u watch games with nash at the helm, there were really no principals, just a bunch of different things from drop coverage to switching just very confusing, but now Jacque has them playing a system. wish he could’ve been the coach since training camp, they would have a good chance of being number one in the league

Reason why Golden State added KD because in previous years that switching defense only Curry was able to cook 1 on 1…With KD they had mismatches all over and killed all switching defense including that 7 game series with Houston.

Underrated comment. When Livingston retired only Steph could reliably generate a bucket out of nothing. Sure they ran through the regular season no problem, but unfortunately, Steph is the Warrior most likely to get injured. Back then he was also the most likely to throw the ball away. KD gave then another reliable scorer off the bounce, ( and much more.)

This is a really great breakdown. Would love to see them try and grab an above average POA defender like an Alex Caruso or Delon Wright. At times they get burned by smaller quicker guards (Darius Garland for example in their game versus Cleveland) and that easy penetration into the paint can lead to kickouts to the perimeter to open shooters or touch fouls by the defense since everyone collapses into the paint. What I like about Wright and Caruso specifically is that they’re both bigger guards enabling them to guard bigger wing players, making them perfect in the Nets’ switching scheme.

Nik is the centerpiece, a total disrupter on d and who has fantastic hands. He rarely fumbles passes, gets rid of the ball quickly and runs like a deer. His style and skills remind me, a little faintly, of the surreal Bill Russell. Remember Russell was 22 when he entered, Nik is still 23.

I’ve been seeing Nets videos where people are mentioning their switch defense. This has been implemented under the Nash regime. Was nowhere near as successful but it started with him, it didn’t help that it was Harden and a bunch of small guards most of the time. There’s a lot of size this time. The Nets starting 5 has size and some of the quickest feet at their positions, it helps to have Ben Simmons at the front of the defensive attack as he makes it hard for the ball handler to even make it across mid court. It’s great when role players become super stars in their roles, JV has been the voice this locker room needed. Great breakdown for sure, I will subscribe.

Nash have good assistant coaches at that harden time (Ime Udoka, Mike D'Antoni, Vaughn). I don't think that is his idea. The Nets are Fools' Gold. At any point and definitely in the playoffs Hack-a-Claxton or Hack-a-Ben will become a thing. This will frustrate KD/Kyrie who will stand there helpless on offense while watching Ben/Clax brick FTs (Ben Simmons hasn't made a FT in over a month). Claxton/Ben will be forced to the bench which will compromise their D. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, Nate McMillan and JB Bickerstaff recently just let Simmons/Claxton play without fouling them. Letting highly efficient offensive players like Kyrie/KD cook, or Watanabe, Curry, Harris, Mills, Warren shoot is mind-numbingly dumb. Those two close losses are on the Head Coaches in my opinion. The Nets will continue to WIN, if they are allowed to play Claxton/Simmons sizeable minutes without them shooting FTs when on the floor

They dropped the trash, in this case, Nash. Had Marks been Fired too, Bk would be #1 in the association.

Marks got good role players. Nash never played them in the playoffs . Ran 8 guys , wore them out & wondered " Why are they Getting Hurt ?

@@itschance1 KD called for his job for a reason. He's scum who's received privilege due to his complexion. He was pure trash in the association.

i have been saying this for years...CENTERS getting caught in pick and rolls is just a bad way to defend...the other players have to switch..this is common in EUROPE since the early 00s.
