Miscommunication was the problem that never got solved. Both sides expected more than the other was willing to give. Both sides thought they were being reasonable and the other side either went too far, or was not going far enough. If KD really was not a huge part of the blame, Joe Tsai would have simply fired Sean Marks. He didn't. So don't make like ownership didn't disrespect Durant any more than they did Kyrie. NY was the problem, not the team or the players. KD and Kyrie were more than enough. Due to covid in the liberal state of NY prevented KY from playing resulting in no chemistry between all of them. That's the thing simple minded people don't understand. Having a line up of great players means nothing if you don't have chemistry. The 92 dream team losing to a college team proved that. 🙄

You must be a young guy.Magic most definitely got rid of Paul Westhead.No doubt about it.Magic was probably the first guy to actually jettison a coach.It wasn't a big deal then and that was over 40 years ago.Nobody pays to see the coach.Its a players League.Coaches still have authority though but players have to buy in to their system or else the coach is out the door.Oh and the players liked Pat Riley who was assistant coach with the Lakers at the time that's how Riley got the Lakers job.

He had no other choice his extension was contingent on him winning a championship. I have never heard of any team asking such a thing. If he would have waited until the off-season there would have not been any good teams with enough cap space to sign him. So he had to roll the dice.

I applaud harden to this day for getting out of that mess as fast as he could. He left Houston to not be the guy anymore but kyries BS led to harden having to do just as much

Man, I miss that squad with D'lo, Dinwiddie, Harris, LeVert, Allen, RHJ, Davis and Dudley. I remember when they signed Kyrie and traded away D'lo, I was disappointed because I wanted to see how that previous core would work out instead of going all in Kyrie and KD. They were so much fun. The Nets went from an upcoming young fun team to a team that was controlled by player politics and egos. KD and Kyrie singled out players and the coach that originally made the Nets a playoff team to begin with and wanted what they desired. Even when they got what they wanted, it was never enough. As great talents as they were, they set the Nets franchise back for years. Have to blame the front office too because they let this happen and could've easily denied the idea of letting the players control the team

It's pretty funny how Kyrie left Cleveland to be "the man" but he's been overshadowed on every team he's been on since.

Also, in general, I think the Nets also encapsulate why working with your friends is often a really poor idea. It takes an incredible level of professionalism to balance a high pressure work environment with personal friendships. That's made all the worst by the fact that Kyrie is one of the least professional players in the NBA. His podcast remarks solidify that. Basically, what it boils down to is that Kyrie and KD didn't like Kenny because Kenny actually held them accountable and held them to a standard. Heaven forbid that you're held to a standard at work! Another example of how entitled, privileged and oblivious those two are.

ngl I think Kyrie was a huge part as to why this team didn't succeed. It isn't all his fault but I think he's still a significant factor

I love the fact the beginning sizzle reel didnt just use main broadcasting media, but also reactions from NBA youtube, which has some amazing brains for the sport !!

That Celtics series was weird. Nets played no defense - just three players one upping each other with offensive moves. It had absolutely no intensity. They were so cocky - and utterly uncoached. Hilarious that they blew the next round the way that they did.

Everyone keeps talking about KD being the most sensitive player in NBA history, but look like to me that might be Kyrie. I always hear him talk about how he feels and feeling a certain way.

As a Cavs fan...thank you for Jarrett Allen!!!! He may not be a superstar, but he brings far less controversy than KD, JH, or Kyrie ever did.

@@tj5180 Good point,the difference tho was KD didn't stink up the joint.Harden did.He played horribly both offense and defense.Since it ended up being a two or three point game Hardens ineptitude turned out to be a significant factor.I usually give guys a pass when they are injured but Harden had to know he was not helping the team.He should have put his ego aside and let someone who could actually help the team play.That's what a real team player does.

If Kyrie wasn’t such a selfish dick about getting the vaccine that teams stays together. James Harden sees that team is taking itself seriously signs an extension and doesn’t request a trade from clown town. They keep the big 3 and perhaps have more cracks at getting a title. Instead Kyrie sabatoges the team, Harden leaves in disgust and ring chases with Embiid, KD fucks off after seeing the shell of Ben Simmons, and Kyrie fucks off to go ruin the Mavs.

Uff, as a nets fan I knew this one was coming haha! Looking forward to it, we’ve been a mess, but somehow stumbled out of it all with a budding star in Mikal and a somewhat happy core!

While I (a Nets fan) agree that it's ultimately the fault of a lot of people, I really struggle to place primary blame on anyone but Kyrie. You can't build a championship roster around a second option with the ego of a superstar and the reliability of a benchwarmer. Also, I haven't given up on Simmons yet. He had the same back surgery as MPJ and he said that he didn't feel like his old self until 18 months after. I think some of his struggles look more like a guy who isn't healthy rather than a guy who for has inexplicably changed into a new player. He was rushed back to make the new "Big 3" happen and a lot of people forget that Ben had a stretch of nice games before he got hurt again.

I will say this to the end of time the nets got too greedy and listened to their stars WAY TOO much, rather than just built around KD and Kyrie with a deeper bench they listened to KD and traded all their depth for Harden, listening to KD and Kyrie to fire Atkinson for Nash wasn’t a good move either. KD and Kyrie around a great supporting cast and bench and great coaching would’ve yielded at least 1 championship

Looking back, I didn’t fully appreciate James being there as a Net as I thought he was being lazy coming into the 21-22 season. Turns out the Nets put him on a position to look crazy or lazy for… whatever reason… and it was fucked up how they treated him. If the nets would have let him come into the season fully healthy and I’m shape then things could be different and also for Kyrie…. Yea man… not much to say about him

imo it was doomed from the start. Nash was a first time HC and wasn’t good enough to coach a regular team let alone a superteam. KD being injury prone combined with Kyrie being Kyrie they were never going to be on the court long enough to have chemistry with the rest of the team for a deep playoff run

As of today(4/22/2023, Clippers are down 3-1 to the Suns, one game away from elimination.

Kevin Durant could have saved his legacy by staying in Brooklyn after Kyrie got traded to the Mavs by showing that he wouldn't leave when the going gets tough

This editing is amazing

The biggest mistake the Nets made was trading all their depth for James Harden. They literally had a perfectly constructed team of 2 super stars and plenty of great quality role players. Gave it all away to become a top heavy team. The problem with having top heavy teams like that is that you are one injury away from the season being over. On the other hand if they had kept their main guys along with Durant and Kyrie, they would have been able to sustain an injury with how deep their team was. Probably would have won a chip too if they never traded for Harden

I was destroyed this year when kyrie AND KD left the nets. They were in the best shape ever and everyone was healthy up until KDs injury.

Kyrie’s problem with authority is so hilarious and childish 😂
