How Tesla can easily fix the Cyber Truck's appearance

Ойын-сауық

First off I don't have as much of an issue with it's looks as most, but not a single person I have talked to about it would buy it. Not just because of it's looks (although that is it's biggest factor) but being from a small farm town no-one I know can practically use the bed the way it is now, that is the reason Ford & Chevy are so prevalent and have such a huge market is you can customize the bed to fit your needs, removing it entirely if need be. As of now the Cyber Truck's rear is only really good for a few basic cargo tasks. It seems to me it was designed by people in Silicon valley who have never actually used a truck to do manual labor such as farm and ranch work where you need the bed to have flat sides so you can stack hay and do the simple task of reaching over the side to grab something from the bed without having to open the tailgate every time you need something.
The Cyber Truck's specs are promising, it's looks not as much.
How to make the cyber truck look better? Let's experiment by remodeling it inside of Blender 2.8
Towing capacity: More than 14,000 lbs
Payload: Up to 3,500 lbs
Range: 500+ miles
0-60 mph acceleration: 2.9 seconds (the $69k version).
Vault length: 6.5 feet
Storage capacity: 100 cubic feet of exterior, lockable storage including the vault, frunk, and sail pillars.
Suspension: 4” in either direction
Touchscreen size: 17”
Body: Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless steel. If there was something better, we’d use it.
Seating capacity: Up to six adults
Charging: Can be charged at home, at Destination Charging locations, and with our network of more than 14,000 Superchargers, including on our newest V3 technology, which is helpful for long hauls and towing.

The aerodynamics would not affect it much at all. The thing is, the way it was built kept the price DOWN. The triangle gave the truck bed an immense increase in strength, and this is important because its an EXOSKELETON, not just an exterior body. To get rid of the triangle build would mean weakening the truck, therefore increasing the price if they tried to re-engineer it with similar strength.

With your design you've lost the ability to cover the bed with the roll down cover, which was a nice feature not only for protecting contents of bed from elements but also for aerodynamic reasons. Also, with Tesla's design you can still add a rack to the bed and you could have it extend over the cab.

What you fail to understand is that the Cybertruck was not designed to be "pretty", they didnt just randomly shape it in a cad willie nillie just for the look, they considered funtction, materials, ease and cost of manufacturing, structural integrity, aerodynamics, and many other considerations including ease of making a pressurized version on Mars. Changing the shape out of the blue without structural and manufacturing considerations just to make it prettier is vain.

  • @Snooperking

I totally understand that and respect it, but right now their biggest concern now is getting in sales before Ford, Chevy and others unveil their own versions. From a Marketing perspective It's in Tesla's best interest to get as many people to buy as they can, and then they can go and release a more niche version such as one suited for Mars. If only 1/50 people are willing to buy right now but with a few modifications to the body that number may increase to 7/50 which as a business move would be a no brainier. I want the cyber truck to succeed and become a major rival to Ford and Chevy but right now I don't see that happening as people can't get over it's look.

I don't know why anyone would assume the design isn't correct in any way when there is a long list of successful products, which dictates a special level of knowledge. You seem very proficient in a design capacity although I'm not sure if you considered anything other then what your dad likes in a truck instead of what the public in general likes. Had you done that you still would have been wrong though because the public doesn't know what they like until they get it and try it. Everyone assumed ev cars would always suck but I don't think anyone on our earth has said "The tesla cars are slow off the start" To sum it up nice as possible, designers are not engineers for a reason. photoshop is a skill for visuals not real world. and most of all Elon has proven to be successful so don't assume you can make something better. Joe Gurko you can’t call someone a child then proceed to claim you’re more of a man than they’ll ever be... by the way it’s not lifting capacity, it towing capacity. Also, some people jobs require a lot of towing capacity, if you don’t that’s fine. Just don’t understand why you’re complaining about that. It’s like your asking to get ripped off all because it doesn’t look cool. No other company will be able to match the cyber tuck in terms of uses and price because other truck designs require more comprehensive manufacturing. Resulting in an increase to price. Don’t know about you, but this would be amazing for construction. Instead of having to spend 60k on a decent truck that offers nothing close to what the cyber truck offers, I can now buy 2 cyber trucks for around the 80k range, and it’s offering better usability for the price. Let’s not forget 500 mile range beats having to spend hundreds of dollars on diesel to fuel up a few trucks that already cost more for one unit versus the cyber truck. To me, I would happily buy 4 of these, there’s just nothing on the market that compares to it for the price.

I also understand this makes it look a whole lot more like a truck which isn’t what Elon musk was trying to do. And I don’t think Elon musk built a up to 77,000 dollar tank that can go form 0-60 in under 3 seconds for farm workers and the rest of the truck community. The one big detail I wish the cyber truck did have is lower side rails. It looks like it would be hard to reach in and grab something from the bed.

Elon was had no intention of being “practical” with this project. I do agree indirectly that when I first saw the Cybertruck when it rolled out at the show, it was a bit unexpected and maybe even slightly shocking, that said, he wasn’t trying to be like all of the all of the other current tricks on the market. He even said that there might be a large group of people who aren’t attracted to the Cybertruck and that he was of with that. This was something “he” really dug personally which potentially takes being practical and throws it out the window. A lot of practical truck owners might also say that they could care less about their truck driving as fast as a 911 Porsche as well but again that, it seems pretty that is not a part of Elon’s equation here. There was a render that was floating around for a while that looked super cool (at least to me) prior to the Cybertruck release and which blew my preconceived ideas right out the window. I am totally ok with that! Pushing boundaries, experimenting, trying new things, taking risks, and pushing yourself to be outside the wire are soooo important to innovation and the creative process. It’s all a part of the passion that drives us! Your design and render skills are great btw! 👍🏼

Chevy avalanche sold like crazy with the side obstruction coming off the cab to the bed... not a lot of difference as far as that. Then you say at 2:39 to lift it 3 inches. Didn’t you catch the highest ground clearance of any truck? And you want yo make it look less trucky? Good word there... they were upfront about not wanting to look the same as 100ish years of trucks.

So, the fact that you think it looks better than an el camino, and the fact that you showed a toyota as a "good looking" truck, automatically invalidates your argument in my opinion. Your argumant was well presented, and I loved your redesign, but I absolutely disagree with the part about looks. Your additions on practicality and overall design are amazing, and I like the look of yours over the official cybertruck. I know the first part sounded kind of rude, but I couldn't really figure out a nice way of saying it that didn't sound like veiled sarcasm, so I just said it bluntly. Anyways, you earned a subscriber, and I love the redesign you proposed. Can't say that enough.

I am sorry but the original is way more exciting than your render. Also more drag efficient. Face it people, Tesla just killed the original pickup design. They all look boring now.

You have got to be kidding. I'm going to guess you are under 20 It is ugly and lame as hell. You probably havnt been around on this earth long enough yet. When you know nothing you will go for anything. You probably think this truck is incredible and the future. 😂 even the window strength display was a joke.

The WHOLE point was it was meant to look like a CYBER-TRUCK and NOT just another generic Truck for the masses cause we are not sheep and if this goes well you really think he is not going to have modified body versions to suit ALL industries? i mean we have already heard rumours that a "Van body" can easily be installed on the trucks Skate board and see other Designs for police, fire , Etc.... The only thing i am even questioning from Tesla is the X and its Falcon door that do not function the best 80% of the time Vs the concept designs of Custom scissor doors! BUT yes i do think that if Tesla allowed their products (ALL OF THEM) to have more custom options from External to internal would destroy the competition even faster!!!
