Exactly. They're multi-millionaires. One tourney with less prize money isn't going to put them in the poorhouse. Plus, they could get accustomed to playing/living away from home. Except for The Open, they have the home course advantage all year long, and can't handle a foreign crowd/experience.

I'm from neither US nor Europe, and been following golf for almost 40 years. I would say Team Europe has consistently shown to have the more thoughtful (and intelligent) captain on the job, ie. decision making aside, their interviews are usually insightful laced with deference to history & culture. And everything being equal (which is not as Team USA is clearly superior on paper each time), the Captaincy makes the defining difference.

Agree on the V. Captain. Get someone like Mike Krzyzewski, Coach K from Duke to help. Or other team sports coaches that know how to work with and motivate a team in hostile environments.

All you have to do is adopt the same chants. As an Englishman living in the US and a follower of Tottenham all my life. These songs and chants are generic to all teams the words are adapted to for each individual team. Yes a football club will have one song that is identifiable to them uniquely. But then most everything else is used by them as in other clubs. Hence it just adapted by the fans at the Ryder Cup because they are all likely to be football fans to. So you don’t have to invent anything just create the words to fit the tune it’s really that simple I’d love to see the US create a similar atmosphere and Beth Page in two years it makes for good competition and it a lot better than being abusive or hollering get in the hole. See you in New York in two years time may the best team win.

Justin thomas said in the presser after it that it’s the closest team that america have had in years, usually there is a few “mis-fits” that typically make a team but this team all got on very well etc… makes me wonder if JT would rather win the trophy with some “mis-fits” in the team or loose with his “mates”

The Euros show up to play for the spirit and myth of Seve. The Americans show up for a boys club weekend, bitching they aren't getting paid. The Americans need to identify their own " win one for the Gipper" mythology. And no it's not Tiger.

He never fit in this tournament, I don't know the reasons but facts are facts. So now, make him the spiritual leader for the American Ryder team...obviusly I understand the pick, we're talking about Tiger ###king Woods. But sometimes, two things are not destined to fit.

@@ianniess4832 Off course, I said that in my first post. We're talking about one of the goats, trying to find weaknesses in his candidacy is quite difficult. And maybe a litle bit moronic...but I'm just saying, this tournament is a place where Tiger Woods & Phil Mickelson have won 35 points in 20 Ryder Cups, with 34% wins in 84 matches, and Sergio García & Ian Poulter have won 44'5 points in 17 Ryder Cups, with 58% wins in 69 matches. Imho, there is a kind of player/people who fit perfectly in Ryder Cup. And being an all times great not necessarily put you in that category. The most feared usa player in the best era for European team, 85/87/89/91, the legendary squad with Seve, Faldo, Olazábal, Woosnam, Langer, Lyle...the guy who irritated them, worried them, and many times won them, was Paul Azinger. You name Chris Di Marco, and I agree 100%. That are the personalities you need in this tournament.

Listening to Colt try to defend Joe is hilarious. It’s OK to admit that Joe was completely in the wrong colt. Cheer on your teammate and get the hell out of the way. He’s lucky Rory was as nice as he was about it. Imagine if he was doing that to someone like Brooks or John Rahm. Joe looked like a complete clown and so do you for defending him Colt.

I believe that Zack will go down as the worst captain in Ryder Cup history. He was totally out class by his opponents in every sense of the way from the speeches to the setting up of the locker rooms to the selections of Luke, Donalds players. It was embarrassing, as we basically made it an American road trip.

Guys … I really enjoy podcast … this episode I’m skipping … my jury is in … too disgusted with the topic …Golf is a very tough, complex game … and yet possesses many simplicities. Colt, can you imagine yourself … beginning a new year of your amateur career … looking ahead to qualifying and playing in the U.S. amateur at the Olympic Club … thinking … well one preparation I’m for sure making is taking 5 weeks off prior 🙄🙄🙄 … Maligned JT showed up ! … in Napa, and in the Ryder cup … the whole team coulda/shoulda had been mandated to Napa (Spieth excluded for his very special baby arrival). The level of our team commitment was disgusting ! … The Masters, 2024, question : Will the 2023 Ryder Cup team take 5 weeks off prior ???
