I’ve been playing guitar for over 10 years now. I’ve owned a couple beginner and a couple great guitars. Yesterday I played a handful of Taylor guitars and fell in love instantly. Even the $600 Taylor’s have a better feel and sound than some $900-$$1100 guitars of other manufacturers. I absolutely loved them.

This didnt ansawer any question. They didnt explain the steps of how to make them. They didnt explain why the quality of materials they use is better why its worth what is costs. They didnt explain anything about the electronics... or if the employees that work in Tecate also work in El Cajon (which would mean that the hands making them are the same, thus, made in MX or US makes no difference).

These guitars are beautiful! Although I'm not a player, nor am a music geek, I own one of these (albeit over 10 years old, damaged, dusting, and rusting) so it's amazing to see how it would've looked like if it were brand new.

I really like the quality of the materials they use it sounds very good

Taylor Guitars seem loyal to their employees. They take pride in not having any Luthiers laid off even when they procure new machines.

Taylor Guitars are one of our biggest accounts at the veneer mill. They buy 15 or so, 50" stacks of 1/8" veneer #1 music grade poplar every other week. Glad they do well and keep us in business!

Such great guitars. Mine stays in tune all year and sounds great with crusty strings.

I just picked up a 17 year old 414 E LTD Fall Special Claro Walnut - getting some cosmetics corrected and some neck/set up issues resolved. But I bought it for the tone. It's an incredible sounding guitar. I can say that with confidence, as I have 4 other acoustics. This one is unusual.

In my experience often Chinese, Mexican, Indonesian, and Japanese guitars can be better depending on model.

I kinda cringed when they said that "advanced woodworking techniques" are used and that's part of why they're so expensive... But they showed CNC routing. CNC routing is a cost saving technique compared to traditional woodworking.

It is advanced and they have pioneered its use in the guitar industry. It didn’t say it is not cost saving, rather the R&D created the innovation used. Makes quality consistent over traditional techniques though, meaning more great quality guitars for us.

Purists think this is bad practice. Not the case, these guitars are identical across the board, which is actually a sign of good craftsmanship, not bad. I've picked up 2 identical named Martin guitars and found each had uniquely different characteristic. Great if that's your thing. Not great, if you bust a string on stage and return with a guitar that doesn't sound the same. The sound guys, need to re-balance EQ, compression, and to get rid of any unwanted frequencies or phasing that may occur w/ that subtle difference in tone.

I love learning about manufacturing but theres 1 thing I dont get. Theres not alot of guitar players relative to the population. So if you can make 160k guitars a year and you got 2 or 3 competitors, wouldn't we as a whole have all the guitars we need in a few years or even just like 2 decades? I understand we throw things away, and that rate is equal or higher to the things we produce so the demand doesnt run out but this a nice guitar, that's an object that's gonna be taken care and not just tossed out. So wouldn't these guys be out of business soon because eventually we'll have all the guitars we need?
