Nah they didn't, the hinokami kagura isn't sun breathing. It's all the sun breathing forms changed to be easier to do and then turned into a dance so that it's easy to pass down. Tanjiro doesn't know sun breathing properly until his fight with muzan, where he inherits the memories of sumihiko kamado watching yoriichi perform them

Yoriichi isn’t his ancestor. Yoriichi’s family died but Yoriichi passed down his earring to the Kamado’s. He showed them sun breathing and put that into a dance. So his breathing form was passed down through the Kamado family but no blood relation just to note

There's a popular theory that Tanjuro is actually Yoriichi's reincarnation. Considering he's the only other character born with the mark and had access to the see through world, I'm inclined to believe it.

Hes the true successor of yorichi. He was born with the mark and actually had seen through world and selfless state. He's much stronger than tanjiro but his illness ate away at him. He succumbed to sickness which is why he taught tanjiro about everything. His fathwr also had a mark that didnt transform like tanjiro, it just stayed as a scar Edit:Thank you for all the likes. I just wanted to inform everyone based on the comments below. Tanjuro was incredibly fast and strong, being able to jump with a dull hatchet and take the head off a huge bear with 2 swings within the blink of an eye. When tanjiro achieves selfless state against daki and stw against akaza it's shown that tanjuro was the one to teach him how to achieve it. Tanjuros illness kept him severely weakened so there's no telling how op a fully healthy tanjuro would be. He also had the stamina to do hinokami kagura non stop for an entire night (shown with him wearing a mask and dancing

As per manga they said that people with mark die at the age of 25 but the actual reason is when they activate and how much they use the mark, its not like if you activate mark and doesn't use it still you will die. Mark purpose is to convert whole life force energy to power up but Tanjuro didn't used it in any fights and how marked one dies? Just while sleeping? Or they vomit blood or etc.

Yoriichi did learn the Hinokami dance and it was passed down through generations and was descended down to the Kamado family. Yoriichi passed it down to Sumiyoshi and Tanjiro’s father was able to pass down that same dance.

If I remember right he also had the Selfless state and the transparent world I also think that tanjuro would have lived longer if he did something kept his body fit (like fighting demons)
