Clever too, however it needs to be scaled down. Look at how small Mario is compared to the chairs and tables, I’d like to know how hard it would be put Daisy in the game. Would’ve been fitting to meet her at her ship, surely there’s a Mario game you can rip a Daisy model out of. And then I imagine you can model swap Peach and give Daisy new dialog.

​@@protocetidExactly what I thought, it really should have been scaled down to a more reasonable size. Just look at the stairs; it's obvious it's oversized in order to fit a Mario Kart game, so normal sizing it for this kind of game makes sense.

I've been following this mod's development for so long now, I've been so hyped to play the full game once it's finished

It's so cool that Sunshine modding seems to be gaining a lot of traction. Pianta Pit looks fantastic, pretty much like an official level, and the new cliffside area of Delphino looks a lot like Beta Delphino Plaza with its own twist.

I know one of the things I've really grown annoyed by with Fan undertakings is that, while they put a lot of effort into the world and atmosphere, they almost always skimp on a challenge and make it either phoned-in just to push out dialogue, or so difficult it makes you not want to bother trying. Glad to see they've apparently thought this part through here. Not too hard, not too easy. Just rewarding.

@@walkerpierce5446 The one where you have to shoot the balloons within a time limit does also seem a bit too much imo, but other than that (at least from what was shown in this video) the rest seem fine. So it does look like a Sunshine 2 but with the intention that you've mastered the mechanics of Sunshine and also want more with some extra challenge.

Super Mario Sunshine was one of my favorite childhood games. The movement was super interesting and the environments felt mysterious and alive, which is something that I think this project has definitely recaptured. It’s been awesome getting to help with the mod and I’m excited with what’s still in store for the future!

Yeah, most mods that play well look rough and unpolished because the guy with the skills to make it play well often isn't the same as the guy who can put in good art direction. Since this mod had a bunch of collaborators it seems their skillets complemented each other like in a real dev team.

For someone who just recently experienced Super mario sunshine I have to appreciate the people keeping this place alive and adding to it.

I really am hoping Sunshines hacking scene blows up, 64 hacks are are absolutely amazing dont get me wrong (played like a hundred), but Sunshines levels are just so much more lively.

As a kid I remember seeing several rom hacks for Mario 64 and desperately wanted some made for sunshine, I’m so glad we finally have some now days.

Erto Rock is actually a reference to an unused level named "Eruyt Rock" in text files in Sunshine. I assume it was renamed to fit in with the other Italian level names in Sunshine, as erto means steep in Italian. The train tracks might also be a reference to the unused Delfino Express train system in Sunshine.

I do hope at some point they figure out a better and more natural way to go the entrances for the other islands.

Delfino Square (Wii) and Peach Beach would have been great additions to the map.

Welcome back, Swanky. It’s really cool to see the Mario universe tied together. I’ve always wondered where some of these places that appear in Mario Kart actually are in the Mushroom Kingdom. Even though it’s non-canon, it’s still cool to see Daisy’s Cruiser appear. Looking forward to seeing what more this mod brings to the table.

Looks amazing! I can see myself going crazy trying to pass that airplane and train level. I could hardly get past the secret levels in Sunshine.

I will always love Mario Sunshine. It was my favorite game during my childhood. My favorite stage in the game will always be Bianco Hills.

Ron hacks that expand on a games story and world are my personal favorite to watch and enjoy as they feel magical to watch

Adding Mario Kart Double Dash maps was genius, always thought a good number of them would fit Sunshines gameplay perfectly.

Quality is off the charts on this. Actually mind blowing

I love the world they built, but the underneath to pianta village was stated in the main game to have wild beasts down below and that's why the village is on a tree in the first place. Still love the world.

This game looks amazing! I can’t believe this demo is SO HUGE!

I wish they’d make a legit sequel. There were other islands, let’s go to Turtle Island this time. Idk if we can modify Fludd to go with the smooth movement Mario had in Odyssey. But I could settle for just adding a long jump. I have a couple ideas for new nozzles for Fludd. One to replace the sprayer, a bullet type sprayer that will instantly clean off graffiti and increase damage on enemies and bosses. The other idea I have is a nozzle that gives Mario a double jump. Like what Piantisimo does.

I've never heard anyone say "but I digress" more than this guy

This mod looks really good. I wanted to see more. I hope theres more areas on isle delphino to explore.

First, I love the fact people still continue this awesome (and unfortunately incomplete) game, and using Mario Kart Double Dash maps is also pretty fitting. However, the first levels left me to some complains. Maybe there is a good reason, but the Cruiser seems to be scaled to big, maybe its size can be still decreased? This is something I am often bothered with by otherwise good Mario 3D hacks. Next is, that the levels rather look like "side areas" rather than the levels from SunShine. But the Pianta Pit really captures the charm of the original levels, I always imagined how it may look like beneath Pianta Village. I hope more areas like this will be added.

I have a theory that Miyamoto personally hates Sunshine and personally goes out of his way to make sure it will never be referenced mentioned ever again as long as he is still alive. Isn't it weird that all these games and the super mario movie later and there is still like no real sunshine representation which makes me think it has to be from the higher ups

Did you know that companies (at least, successful ones) prioritise objective data over subjective preference? Mario Sunshine got a lot of hate back in the day; apparently it strayed too far from the classic formula. There's also the fact that you can only do so much with the concept of washing goop.

Some of Mario's special/Smash attacks in the original Smash Bros. games consisted of Mario using FLUDD. In addition, in one of the latest installments in the Mario franchise, the Bowser's Fury campaign of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Bowser Jr. returns with his signature Gadd-tech paintbrush as was first introduced in Super Mario Sunshine.

Nice video, would be interesting for sure to expand on the Mario Sunshine world, anyways, keep it up!

Sunshine is one of my favorites. It's a shame how it didn't get as much recognition as it should have, and I believe Nintendo should have made a sequel. I was really excited to hear about Eclipse, but I was hoping for an official release. I'm glad that there is a Fan made game of such a level, though. Maybe if this fan game does well, Nintendo would have incentive to make another Sunshine Game. The Open world feel took Mario 64 and Upgraded it so much. FLUDD was also really cool, even though it was different.

isle delfino wasnt erased from the globe in odyssey, it was just completely submerged due to rising sea levels 😔

I know that you only do much with Nintendo games but i think i made a discovery in ark and atlas, years ago on ps4 i managed to spawn in different generic items like the generic consumable or generic ammo etc, well back then they had actual textures when you look at them in your inventory, the other day i decided to start messing with console commands and when i spawned in the generic ammo and resource but they didn't have a texture i also did the same for atlas, so i did some digging in the files and turns out they went out of their way to remove the textures for both of them, yes you can spawn the ark version of wood and it has a texture but they went out of their way to remove it for items that you aren't even supposed to have and judging by the fact that the wiki hasn't finished the pages for them very few know they exist. Sadly it is a pain to pirate ark and a pain to downpatch it too for that matter. The 3 games i know the inside of best are ark, atlas, and ranch sinulator, in fact i know one of the devs for ranch sim, i used to know minecraft really well but that has faded with time and a lot of the game being rewritten with 1.14 update.
