Sukuna is a "pure villain" in the sense that he's not a villain. He's just a guy who does what he wants, when he wants and dares people to stop him. Shigaraki is a "real villain" in the sense he wants something and will get it by any means necessary.

Like you can't help but enjoy their ridiculous ego powered antics as they eventually unravel what they are in a speech and call themselves god and whatnot. It makes their downfall so much more satisfying than "Damn that was tragic, he could have not died as a villain if things were different..."

Alot ot are advocates of villains, so for me it depends on the story, Sukuna definitely feels refreshing from a sympathetic piece but theyll be a time where we’ll go back n fourth with what is boring i feel

JJK can hold it’s own among the big hitters because like them, it doesn’t follow a set of guidelines or rules like the rest of modern day shonen; Just like a normal world everyone can die, you can’t predict what’s coming & when it’s time to throw hands you don’t sit around & talk when it’s a 3 v 1. It’s just a manga made from ideas that Gege think sound good, fights that would be cool, deaths that will hurt. The best way I can put it is, It’s a common sense kind of manga; The things you would expect to happen in that kind of world happen without exception which make it feel similar to our world even though it’s fantasy, it makes it feel almost realistic enough for the reader to feel a connection. It’s just real, it’s Gege’s honest / true ideas come to light, no censoring or masking. Best way I can put it, it feels like it was written by someone who isn’t afraid to be their real self & is unapologetic about it.

@@drew8324 Was so sad when kenjaku died, I really thought he'd pull something legendary off, jjk has an unfair power system, you dont often get the chance to get more cursed techniques, Kenjaku feels like the only character to actively fight to get all of their abilities, would have been weirdly cathartic to see the villain put in alot of hard work to stand up to the naturally gifted protagonist

I would have liked kenjaku as the final villain however to say sukuna has no depth kind of misses the point. Sukuna is a hedonist, he does what he wants and he takes it to an extreme, unlike other hedonist villains in general sukuna plans ahead, he knows what he wants and he's very good at getting it, infact he gets what he wants alot, not being focused on one grand goal and it honestly makes him feel alot more grounded because of it which gives him a "Personnel nightmare" feeling while simultaneously making him feel like a natural disaster, it strikes a great balance

if sukuna is the face of modern manga villains , then new gen is cooked lol. he is not even the best villain in jjk .

No-one have that "Aura" in then the "Aura" once carried by villains like Madara Aizen... Sukuna have that "Aura"... Where Aizen was pure strategy Madara was technique and raw power same as Sukuna technique and raw power......ya not even Muzan or MHA villain (I forgot his name)....Muzan have less "Aura" than kokushibo plus muzan already lost once .... Shigaraki isn't that strong......... Sukuna carries that Madara vibe in him he is the strongest there is and he knows it

Plus Sukuna seriously doesn't need a backstory not right now currently we hate that man with passion and any backstory will make us soft......... Like it happens with Akaza.... After JJK end's say after 2/3 yrs gege release a whole Manga as Sukuna's backstory... that will sell huge
