    @@ethandefilippi9346 So true I watch channels that are super scientific and a lot of it will go over my head, but Tyler is just a dude like me and my friends thinking of silly what if scenarios like hmmm wonder if I can tape a chair to the wall and sit in it lol it's that laid back, just go for it and see what happens attitude that makes these videos so fun to watch.

    Funny thing is its acculy the back that was the legs were acculy straight that's why it can hold people when they sit. It's the back that was at an angle to make it comfortable

    I love that he determined the tape could hold 70 ish lbs and then preceded to do a bunch of tests to see if the tape could hold him a person who one would assume weighs more than 70 lbs lol and was suprised when it didnt hold

    He said 73 lb per square inch. In theory that would mean 2 square inches would hold roughly 146.

    The 73 pounds is for 1 square inch of tape. The strength increase with surface area.

    Should put two or 3 strips per brick. Basically cover the surfaces in the tape. That will give maximum hold. With the chair, what failed was that where you put the tape was round, so only a tiny bit of the chair and tape was in contact with the wall. If you found or made a chair out of square stock metal, I bet it would work

    The only reason the chair thing failed immediately is because nano-tape is designed to stick to things the same way geckos do, not with an adhesive, so a force like that which would cause it to start to peel instead of just sheer downwards will fail as it's really only strong against sheering forces. PS: since there is no adhesive you don't need to wait for them to "set"

    Why don't you put clamps that push the steps together for a few hours? Then it will compress more and hold better then when you remove the clamps!

    Also it has little bubbles on it so that probably cut the stick area in half , itd have to be clean, and smooth to really test it.

    I do know a little about construction to know that this wouldn't work, an arched bridge would be better but, that would be another good idea for a video. I think the chair would work if it had a greater surface area fixed to the back.

    You should have tried to maximize the surface area on the spots with tape. Ie with the ladder attached it by the big sides for both rungs and the sides, and with the chair you should have got one without round bars.

    Screw 2×4's or any wood. To the back of the chair so its flat. Like from the top to the bottom parallel to each other. Then one in the middle in the center along the back. Lol idk why I explained this.

    Dang, those cricket noises gave me trauma. I've had the issue where they crawl out of the garage, make their way across the kitchen and to my room, crawl under my bed, then wake me up with their chirping and they will not stop until you find them and "get" them. It can take up to an hour to find them because their chirping echoes across the whole first floor, making it sound like they're coming from everywhere. I can't stand crickets.😢

    I wonder what would happen if you put two parallel strips of tape on the surface of the brick. Having a strip down the middle wouldn't even work with set mortar, because the bricks are going to have a tendency to camber downward, because of a high center

    Ok I understand the one peace test but after something fails you should do a section seeing how much it would take for it to hold up. Not just in between the structure but around like a boxer wrist wrap. Or like a cast

    I wonder if you could make gecko glove with this stuff. Gecko attach by making the setae rigid and flat. To detach, the gecko increases the angle by changing the seta's shape and peeling it away. So if you could make a glove that switch between rigid and curvy, that might work.
