How strong are Izumo and Kotetsu?

In line with the "how strong" series I'm wondering how strong is Kurenai. She's supposedly a jonin and team captain but in all honesty if she was to enter the chunin exam fights I can't see her doing anything against, Lee, Sasuke, Neji, Gaara, etc. She seems like she'd be folded by genins. With Guy, Kakashi and Asuma we've seen some impresive feats but Kurenai being a jonin seems like a joke.

@@Ico132 Kurenai outsped Neji to stop him from killing Hinata and matched Itachi in a genjutsu exchange. He counter her best Genjutsu and put her in an equally strong genjutsu, which she also got out of before he could hit her (he still hit her, but she managed to block the attack).

My favorite bit of trivia about these two is that the syrup jutsu izumo uses is listed in the wiki as the same jutsu that saiken the 6 tails use, but also it's said in a databook that izumo learned this technique by himself, so it implies that somehow saiken learned this jutsu from izumo

Considering that Kotetsus Mace looks like the Sanbis missing eye, it'd be kinda cool if they both had some kind of Biju connection.

The Sanbi was one of Kirigakure's active assets before Rin ate it. Maybe Izumo and Kotetsu (alongside a larger squad) fought the Sanbi and there it saw Izumo use that sticky jutsu, realizing how convenient would it be with much more chakra. And Kotetsu, proud of surviving the encounter, modeled his signature weapon after the Sanbi's mysterious eye They were kids back in the war (younger than Kakashi) but we know kids were brought into the conflict

History says there roommates and eternal bachelors

My favorite couple in the entire series. Naruto and Hinata? Mid. Shikamaru and Temari? Mid. Sasuke and Sakura? Get that shit out of my face. Izumo and Kotetsu? Peak cinema.

Admittedly, I'd love that Izumo & Kotetsu Spinoff about two Chuunin doing normal Chuunin Jobs and sometimes supporting Jônin fighting opponents that they just couldn't xD I think it'd deepen the world of Naruto to show off what normal dudes are usually doing.

You should use these types of characters more in the rewrite. Aoba, Raido, Genma, these guys, Kurenai…

They didn't get fodderized just to show off a new jutsu from the current big bad. That's a real achievement for background characters in a long running series like naruto.

It seems very likly that by the time of The Last, the two are Jounins, since Kakashi picks them as his bodyguards to the Kage summit. We've ONLY seen Jounins in that role. Odds are [especially following losses in the war] these two managed to get an official promotion. Especially given their feats in fighting Edo Kakuzu in the war.

Iruka would get a spin off before these guys

Let it be known that chunin are the rank in file for most villages and are the most common rank. Though it's a matter of actual numbers I am not hundred percent certain.

The plot really cooked kakuzu when naruto came to fight him. His ability, intelligence diminishes for naruto to land both rasenshuriken

I love that we get to see their attack with the big mace land in Ultimate Ninja Storm 4/Connections through Shikamaru and Asuma's Tag Ultimate Jutsu

Kakuzu, who seems to never been attacked from behind for around 100years. Man, Naruto got him twice from the back, Kotetsu and Izuma got him from the back... he should get some eyes there

Personally i would love to see just an episode or a book on these two great ninjas. I feel like these two would have great, memorable, interesting, fun, etc stories to tell.

These two guys deserve to be Jonin imao. They fought against an Akatasuki member twice and managed to survive after the war arc.

The only edo that doesn't shed paper when he's hurt. Also, his hearts were somehow killed even though they should be immortal. Hmm

Their second fight with Kakuzu is very interesting. On one hand, Edo Kakuzu is slightly weaker than his regular self, has his hearts busy with other ninja, and Those Two Guys probably trained themselves to specifically counter Kakuzu's close combat style. On the other hand however, Kakuzu was given the mission to take down Hashirama, and that was before he got the strings jutsu. So for being two chunin, I'd say they are very strong, far above average

Well, technically they were apart in 1 episode where they have to catch the ostrich. One almost died, but the other guy came and all of them defeated the ostrich

Hopefully, you can work them into your rewrite

I'd say they are veterans, obviously, but they aren't promoted due to... them not having that potential. Basically, they capped out and just made themselves as well rounded as they could at that level. And they did great, as a pair.

Gonna bet we see these guys pop up in the rewrite after this vid.

Fact that two Chounin achieve more then whole Anbu force kind sad .

The data books describes kotetsu as a man of "Dauntless Courage" which I have observed and respect.

Izumo and kotetsu are a odd pair because i remember in one episode when kotetsu went out on a mission on his own izumo freaked the heck out and went to find him and the whole reason was that kotetsu is apparently a mess on his own in missions

Dude played the long game of barely making any benefit until he gets sponsored by no less than 4 Hokages. As Hiruzen went there with Naruto. As Minato went there with Kushina. As Kakashi went there with Team 7/ Naruto As Naruto went there with everyone at one point really.

I mean I don't think Teuchi (the ramen guy) was making a huge amount of money, but at least enough to give free food to Naruto from time to time, one thing to keep in mind tho is that the restaurant is quite small and the only times we see it is when Naruto is there usually with someone else, so we can assume he gets a decent amount of clients but nothing crazy. Anyway that seems to change in Boruto (I know Boruto is not canon, but is one of the few things I liked when I tried to watch Boruto) thanks to Naruto the literal Hokage saying Ichiraku Ramen is his favorite place to eat they apparently started earning a ton of money, enough to expand and for Teuchi to retire early (I don't think he's dead in Boruto, he wasn't that old in Shippuden he should be around 60-70 years old in Boruto)

Its because he has close range combat skills since he cant use ninjutsu. You keep him at range he is easy to beat just cant get cut by his blade though

I'd like to know, when they cast a Genjustsu on the sign of the classroom- Is that ON the sign or ON the brains of every single person affected? Genjutsu seems to be a nasty thing Naruto. Wouldn't the scariest ninja be a guy who could hide small needles with genjustsu or something? My second point would be that those two flunkies would have been traumatized by the first kakuzo fight and have trained extensively to overecome their weakness against that EXACT opponent.. so it's fitting that they did well against an edo tensei
