When Rifky was little, hardly anyone in his community in rural Indonesia valued education. Most people got married early and farmed the land like their parents and grandparents before them.
But Rifky was sponsored. It meant he got the school supplies he needed to learn, as well as inspiration and encouragement through his sponsors’ letters to work hard at his studies. He was one of a handful of kids who continued to secondary school, travelling 1.5 hours there and back each day.
Today he’s one of the first people in his village to go to college - and his goal is to go back one day to his village as a teacher and inspire other children to big things with their lives.
