It's because most of us in the cubing community are very young, and everyone becomes friends through competing. And since it is mostly young people, there is no bitterness in the community. There is so much competition, where at the same time there is no competition. It brings out the spirit of sportmanship and The Olympics, i love it. The cubing community is the most wholesome and exciting community anyone can be a part of :D

It reminds me of Rave culture from 15+ years ago! Everybody cared for each other and everybody where are equals. We were united by our shared love of dance, music, and being open with each other. I could say so much more but you get the point.

I absolutely love cubing and this is why. You COULD be competitive, and you will be welcomed with open arms. Or you can just be supportive of others and hope someone shatters the record. So perfect

That's what makes speedcubing so awesome! The same happens when I enter athletics competitions. It's great to talk to your competitors about their jumps and congratulate them if they break their pb or beat you. In these communities people would rather lose because their rival got a good score than win because their rival got a bad score.

Being able to work on ourselves and celebrating the success of our rivals is the most amazing part of cubing❤❤❤

100%. Sometimes I feel discouraged because I’m still very new to the world of cubing (I started earlier this year and had never solved a cube before) and my PB is 35 seconds compared to 3 second solves. Then I remember the community we have, I couldn’t solve a cube at the start of the year and now I know about a whole new hobby and skill. That’s an amazing thing that I can work on for years and get better at my own pace and that’s beautiful especially with the ever growing amount of people there to support each other. It doesn’t matter if you can solve a cube in 5 minutes or 5 seconds it’s still incredible x

It is not competition between people. But the competition of what is humanly possible. When someone sets a new record, it's a record move forward and a shift in human possibilities as such. It is a pity that such commitment is not in every sport
