How Singapore Libraries Organise 25.6 Million Books Borrowed Yearly | On The Red Dot | Full Episode

While you are fast asleep, a vigilant team keeps watch over our libraries. What’s so precious that it demands 24/7 monitoring? Uncover the library's secrets that make borrowing a cinch for you. From maps to miniatures, relics of the past become borrowable treasures - if you know the right person to approach. Then there are workers who trawl the shelves scanning up to 50,000 items in just one night so you can find what you’re looking for in the light of day.
Elsewhere, a team uses a special method to keep car shares clean. They find offenders who abuse and misuse vehicles by literally sniffing them out. It’s all about the secret workings of the library and a car-sharing company that make borrowing or renting a cinch for you.

Sorry ah CNA team What is the rationale / purpose for having the car-sharing segment slotted in between the NLB story? When at 1st glance of the title, I thought the entire segment will be NLB-focused. Not like a sudden irrelevant showstopper abt car sharing segment to cut the NLB segment

Forgetting to return library book could be a recurring theme in nightmares

There could be a dark spin to the reason of having a wheelchair left behind. The person using it might no longer need it as he could have gone to another realm. So the wheelchair was sort of left there as a kind of donation to whoever that needs it.

I have problems falling asleep after years of being abused in class, in army and in library. Because some authoritarian figures would wake you up if you fall asleep. Now the nightmares of being woken up in libraries continue

Wow! That is high capability on the part of the librarians, comparable to that of the PAP govt. This is why PAP has always been the people's choice because it is the only competent party in s'pore.❤❤

Taxpayers money should be spent more on e-books than maintaining these libraries. E-books have many superior features to physical books, yet so much cheaper to maintain than physical books and libraries. I think many librarians are worried about their jobs with e-books and will be resistant to this change. We should not let this worry impede progress. Cut down expense on libraries and invest more in ebooks.

While I agree that this would be good for those with e-readers, not all have such access. For kids from less privileged families, these libraries are superior to their phones.
